Hogwarts castle at night is just stunning. Wow
I’m still trying to work out how the cycle works, I’ve only encountered night via main quests so far (early game).

I'm loitering on buying this. Is it actually a good game? I enjoy Harry Potter, but if it's basically just an impressive rendering of Hogwarts with a few quests I'm not sure it's one for me at full price. Is the game element of it actually decent?

There is a natural night/day cycle that happens in real time. But if you select your map then press R3 you get an option to forward time to night/day.I’m still trying to work out how the cycle works, I’ve only encountered night via main quests so far (early game).
It’s so much more.
My first game in a while I’m pleased I got it on day 1.
I’m quite early game still not got my broom but looking at the map it looks like there is tons to do and explore.
What I’m liking is that it doesn’t have that repetitive nature you get in an open world game.
In the map press R3 and it will cycle night to day and vice versa.I’m still trying to work out how the cycle works, I’ve only encountered night via main quests so far (early game).

It’s better than we could have hoped. A real labour of love by the devs. I enjoy HP too and this doesn’t let it down. Played around 9 hours so far and the story is decent.I'm loitering on buying this. Is it actually a good game? Terrible generally. In went physical just in case. Turns out I love it.What’s Sony’s refund policy like? I’m thinking of getting this on PS5 but could be one of those I play for a few hours and don’t enjoy.
The films are ok especially the later ones. Read the books though they are brilliant. Again, especially later on.11 hours in and can’t put it down. Loving this. May even temp me to actually bother with the films.
Ok cool, will try that later.
If it happens real Time that explains why I never seen night naturally occur outside of main quests, as I played for around 3 hrs yesterday and it was daytime the whole time.
Ok so if I just freely explore without doing any main story quests, it should change from day to night. I’ve likely not played for that length of time in one go see, despite loving the game, I rarely play any games for long stints.Perhaps real time is the wrong phrase - there is a day/night cycle but it's compressed. Not sure what the length of the cycle is ... feels like somewhere between 1-2 hrs but happy to be corrected.

I've started re-reading the books ... again, there is a lot of material referenced in the game. For real HP fans this game will feel like nirvana.I’ve just watched the first two films off the back of playing this game, lots of nods to them which is great! Played 20 hours or so and still doesn’t feel like I’ve scratched the surface. Cracking game.
