I bought it last night after some deliberation and played a couple of hours, not disappointed so far. The world they've built is excellent and playing it on my home theatre audio set up, the atmosphere is incredible.

I'm surprised how well it runs on the PS5 as well, considering I mostly play at 240hz and high frames on a PC.

So far so good - only done the first lesson, but had a bit of a wander around, and it feels like it has captured the world of HP really well, very impressive visuals too.

I want my broom!

I refuse to use fast travel points as the world is so nice, so am running everywhere at the moment, until I get the quest that gives me the broom.

Got my broom this morning!

I’ve been wandering around not doing the main quests just exploring - but I did crack on with the quests this morning to get the broom. There is tons to see and flying around the forbidden forest at night was very cool.

I like how the enemies seemingly scale with you so you don’t feel over levelled. I did a lvl 6 quest and the enemies were around 18-20 same as me.

Anyone got any controller tips for someone who's never used one before?

My wife isn't a gamer, but she really wants to complete this. She made a character yesterday and got up to the initial 2 quests in Hogwarts, but she's really struggling with the controls to the point she gave up. She's having a nightmare moving the character and the camera at the same time.

Is there a setting that pans the camera to the direction your character is facing?

Tough one. Xbox or PS5? I'm wondering whether plugging in a keyboard and mouse might help? No idea about compatibility but people seem to manage to get it working.

Or I wonder about introducing her to an older / less complex game for a few hours first? Not ideal but having her run around something like Mario 64 for a couple of hours may help her get a feel for it

Just got up to the broom lesson, but having a break now, been on It a lot today.

I want to get some more merlin trials to unlock gear slots, I guess I should also sell most of my unused lower stat gear though as you keep the cosmetics anyway.

Yep I sell everything. Easier now I have a few more slots but I get rid anyway.

Does that apply to levels as well? I'm level 10 but missions are level 5 so was abit concerned. Yes randoms do match though, I've figured that much.

Edit: sorry I re-read you post :)

Yeah sell sell sell and learn how to open the chests with the eyeball above them as you make 500 per chest.

Some of the later stuff like different brooms and larger pots are like 3000-5000 gold each.

Will need to start selling then.
I have seen a lot of them eyeball chests, but I must need to learn the spell in a quest or something?

In the gameplay options, try set camera acceleration to 0 and camera sensitivity to 2, will make it easier to control.

I'd also suggest setting the difficulty within that menu to story mode. Will make enemies super easy and allow her to just enjoy the visuals and story.

Turn off motion blur as well in the display options.
