Those of you who are setting up gyms / equipment due to covid, will you go back to gyms or go all in at home? Personally I love training from home so much that once I set up a gym I knew that was it, but I am a tiny bit agrophobic.

I've had a home gym before but that was more geared towards power lifting and I sold that over a year ago and went back to the gym. I've enjoyed training in the gym but also missed some of the benefits of training at home. I was considering a home gym and covid-19 pushed me to speed up my plans. When this is all over I will probably join the local puregym again but only really to train legs as that for me is the hardest thing when at home.

I doubt it. I'd started buying equipment at the beginning of the year because we had our first baby in December. I'd quickly realised that I wouldn't have as much spare time to hit the gym as and when I wanted (allowing for opening times). So was fortunate I had some stuff already before lockdown.

Now during lockdown I'm just picking up some extra bits and bobs.

Loving the fact I can pop out the garage at absolutely anytime that suits me and I know the bench is going to be free, or no one will be using the equipment I want to use :)

I love the fact that if the gym is a mess I've only one person to blame. Plus I can curl in the squat rack to my hearts content! :D

Oh and I've just gone ahead and grabbed that selectorised stack for the CF475 power rack as using the cable system with loading plates is a pain!

I still have 7 PT sessions remaining so I'll be using them up before deciding but I do enjoy jumping in the sauna for a bit post workout plus I earn vitality points so chances are I'll keep it.

Unfortunately garage is a mess as we have a sofa waiting to be taken to my partner's parents plus all the boxes from the recent purchases taking up about 70% of the garage but even with the current storage I've managed to replace all my gear with olympic weights and a bench that can actually support more than just 30kg of weights plus my body weight, only thing I've paid above standard retail for is about a 20% mark-up on the steel tri-grip plates but I've made about £400 selling my old stuff so it's not been too expensive to upgrade.

Acrylic mirrors will be removed and backed onto solid board once I can get back to the shops and have the space in the garage to actually work on them but they are a big improvement to the grey brick that was there before, just looking forward to getting back into it now.

What's that mirafit rack like?

I bought a Mirafit squat and dip rack to start..... it's ok and does the business. Does wobble a bit though. I'm already eyeing up getting a full size rack or cage instead.

Trying to decide whether to full free standing or wall mounted and foldable due to limited space.

It's very sturdy and I'm very happy with it, can't say I've ever compared it to any other cage though as I got it cheap second hand but unbuilt last year.

I've only had benches before getting the rack but it's leagues above anything I've had before and i am tempted to pick up the cable attachment to go along with it at some point if I can pick one up at a reasonable price.

So I had a change of mind with some of my home gym equipment. I sold the cast iron plates I recently bought as I wanted some bumpers for various exercises. Got some on the way from Mirafit, should be here this week. Not as much weight as I’d hoped (90kg) but I’ll get some 20s when they are back in stock.

Secondly I sold my adjustable dumbbells because I have this weird worry that the mechanism will fail after a year or so leaving me with unusable £500 dumbbells. So those were sold for £50 more than I paid. I’ve gone ahead and ordered a mix of rubber and urethane fixed dumbbells. Will be fun trying to find space for them.

I picked a selection of weights that I feel will work best for me.

I was supposed to be getting my pulley weight stack today but the tracking number hasn't updated since Saturday (we have your order details + expecting package soon) so I guess that's not happening?

Oh well - not like I can use the gym since I have a leg infection anyway!

Can I ask where you ordered them from? I would love a couple of sets of dumbbells at a reasonable price...

The only ones that are well priced are the bigger weight rubbers DBs, the lower weights are Urethane which are superior but more costly.

Rubber DBs that are well priced - https://originfitness.com/origin-pro-rubber-dumbbells

Smaller weight DBs that are Urethane but more costly - https://originfitness.com/origin-ud2-urethane-dumbbells

I have the following coming

Rubber pro DBs:
26kg
34kg
42.5kg

Urethane DBs:
8kg
12kg
16kg
20kg

42.5s arrived and the bumpers. I would have ideally wanted some 20s but I will add a set of those later, 15s should be decent enough.

My bar is 15Kg (all I could source) so with the available bumpers it will be something like 45kg > 75kg > 105kg for bench press for now. Need a couple 2.5 plates.

Well good news anyway: My weight stack for my rack has arrived. Kinda of. 4 out of 5 packages anyway. Seems that 1 of them got split up from the rest and will be here Tomorrow/Friday/Saturday/?!?

Usual problem with weight deliveries too - 25kg of plates in a thin cardboard box. Weights 1, Box 0!
