Official Home Gym Building Thread

need to figure out a pull up rack/dip rack solution in the garden.

I have a feeling that gyms will be closed for a long time so would prefer to kill it with some bodyweight exercises.

can't do the usual routines anymore and have no space at home for full gymsetup.

any recommendations? wonder if I could bolt something to the brick wall in the garden.

Not so much a recommendation as an "I saw this and it looked cool"- but do you have any chonky trees? https://www.pullup-dip.com/pull-up-dip-bar-outdoor (They also have indoor/wall mounted if you'd rather put holes in your house)

I've been looking at pull up bars over the weekend, and this one seems ok outside?

Sadly most i like the look of for indoor use are out of stock for months :(

I'm looking for some wall plate hooks i can attach resistance bands to. Am i good to just use pretty much anything i can pick up from Screwfix or are there any specific recommended products?

Rack is in, happy days. Hoping my other 6 pairs of Dumbbells will be here this week, still not sure where they will fit as they will take up a fair amount of room.

I sold the bar I had, it was ultimately the wrong bar. 15kg and 25mm shaft. I got back what I paid. @Syla5 lent me his bar as I cannot source another one. Deciding what I want from my next bar.

The other half the log cabin is a chill/storage area, but cannot complete any more work on it until lock down is over.

Assembled my weight stack this afternoon which was an utter nightmare but did get round the rack and tighten everything too. Leg is nearly better so should be back in there soon enough!

That said I think I built the weight stack incorrectly by leaving a couple of posts in place meaning it's sitting a foot off the ground. Not a problem as such but it's added a bunch of slack to the low pulley system. Oopsie! I might fix it if I can be bothered but it's going to mean taking apart the whole pulley system, unloading all the weight stack, remove collars and then do everything in reverse. Lot of hard work....

Got a stock alert for the 20kg bumpers from Mirafit, ordered along with a t-bar row attachment for the land mine station I have coming. Within 3 minutes of the alert I had ordered then it showed out of stock.

Its mental. I was putting in an order to fitness superstore. Included collars, went to the checkout and they were gone. Dumbbells came into stock at the same time though and got them :)

Anyone got any recommendations for a good commercial quality half rack for home use, with west side spacing, plate storage and pull up bars? Want to be able to do all the compounds on it and incline bench etc.
Not fussed about having to wait after the quarantine as I already have some gear.

On a budget it may be hard. Stuff is appearing in stock all the time you just need to keep an eye out.

For example there's stock here for some decent Dumbells - https://originfitness.com/origin-ud2-urethane-dumbbells

They are Urethane so more expensive, but won't stink of rubber.

Yeah its not so much the budget, space is at a premium so was hoping for a decent foldable bench, barbell rack, bar and weights and adjustable dumbells.

Understandably all the good stuff is out of stock.

Edit: Cheers for the help though. I'll keep an eye out.

I've all but given up trying to order heavy gym equipment. Really rubbish that the gyms may not be open until at least October. I'll order another couple of railway sleepers (25kg dry, up to 60-70kg wet), ideal for OHP, rows etc. I have a tonne of gravel coming tomorrow. I'll keep the heavy duty bag and will leave 100kg or so in there.

That’s the stuff they have in my gym. First problem is that the rack would need to live outside, second is that I don’t have a spare two grand!

Edit: three.
