Official Home Gym Building Thread

Be careful with bumper plates, LiE - some of them are pretty thick, meaning a maximum bar load (for a standard Olympic bar) is only around 200kg.

So unless you get one of the uber bars with extra long sleeves, you'll have to make sure the plates you're buying are proper 'competition' thickness.as they're much thinner.

Those aren't bumper plates :)

It has been very cold in my garage but once i've started my workout it isn't an issue. I plan to get a gas heater for the next winter.

Put a few of my friends off training with me in December though.

my double garage is built into my house....so doesnt get that cold:D even on days it is...i just open door and let some of the house heat in for 10mins before.

lie...anything body solid ive came across is decent stuff, hence why i bought it all :)

The garage is build into the house too, so only the garage door and one wall are external, so hopefully it won't get too cold. There's no door into the garage though.

you shouldnt be too bad then for cold. even on snowy days and the likes...5mins with a blow heater would warm it up. i like traiing in the cool anyway...when im overseas, the commercial gym i use has heat/air con on 27-28C all the time:eek: so its a pleasant change here at home!

9th is the planned date to hire a van to clear it out. I'm also planning a trip to fitness superstore in Northampton to try out the cages and benches.
