Does anyone have this on a street or is is mostly reserved for flats and business property?

I'd happily pay the price for the 1gig as I work from home and would save me a lot of time uploading/downloading.

You can (and probably should) register your interest on their site. They only move places where people have done so. There was a lot of 'please sign up' here to get the numbers up. So you could try the same on your street.

But as such, they usually go for new tower blocks as obviously it's easier and quicker to reach a lot of customers at once.

I got a letter through the post yesterday from HO

Great news regarding your property

Hyperoptic is currently working with your development to bring you the UK's fastest fibre broadband service

My jaw nearly hit the floor when I read the letter :)

I registered interest in Sept of last year. My building is an old pub converted into 6 flats. The area has just had BT Infintity enabled at the street cabinets, but my building is exchange only, so Im not able to get that.

Not sure how long it'll take to actually get HO installed.....

It gives you an advantage though, being able to go 100mbp/1gbp down & up is great and I doubt you would need an upgrade at all.

Just pre-ordered Hyperoptic in Royal Docks, London. ETA for the full install is only a couple of weeks away (they are already wiring up the basement). I live in a 12 floor block of flats for those asking about building size.

As others have mentioned, I feel very lucky to be getting the best FTTH service in the UK!

I've gone for the 100MB service for the moment, as I have a 12 month contract with Sky for TV and Broadband (peasant 6MB lol), and my understanding is that I'll have to keep paying Sky until the contract ends?

Yeah it looks like I have around 2 weeks also from speaking to the engineer on the premises, another team will come in after these guys have finished installing the cables.

I'm also with sky but will cancel once i received confirmation the faceplate from HO can be installed in the property, in your case you may be able to pay sky a small fee to break the contract if your within your initial 12 months.

Lacky how much are you paying for your 100Meg ? you may received an offer if you've not done so already giving you the option of 12 months HO bb with the phone line half price for the 100Meg and the 1Gig.

Are you getting installed in London if you don't mind me asking?

Would be great if I could get away with just paying a small fee to Sky!

Yeah I did get an introductory offer, I'm paying £25/m for the first year, thats 100MB and phone line with free install. I didn't even want the phone line (in this day and age!) but it worked out cheaper that way. After 12 months I'll get rid of the phone line and just pay for pure fibre

Yeah my install is in London also. I totally understand you about the phone line, I didn't want nor need a phone line but as you said it does work out cheaper which sucks.

In swden the avg homeless person has access to internet and 70% of the time it's faster than 120 meg. In Stockhelm I remeber a man on the street his phone was doing 98mB/s seeding and I was like WHOA then he pinged me using musclurping 126.134.13.1 -tilldeath

.... normally it wont work but musclur ping took out my router, burnt my amp and blow the phone line. Thier Fibre is pure glass man, it's proper moce - we get ugly stuff - Swedens Phone line test freaks had a 21 year old lad getting 0.8tB/s DOWN/UP COMBINED winning using a line bond.

What's faster than light??

Was playing on a London based BF4 server tonight with a ping of 6, feeling all smug with my self and my new 80/20 fibre connections, only to notice a player with a ping of 2!

Yep, they where on HyperOptic !

RE: the talk above of overheads, you're always going to see slightly less 'speed' in your data transfers as overheads are inherent in the protocols used to deliver that data.

Haha, amazing :p

So now Hyperoptic are definitely coming to Liverpool, Manchester etc... Does anyone have any ideas on what kind of rollout we can expect? Is this liable to be restricted to a couple of not-yet-built blocks of flats or would they install to existing infrastructure?

We're in a new build on an estate that's only half built. Work is still ongoing on the rest of the houses (a row of bungalows sprung up opposite us last week), and the estate is pre-laid with fibre and cable ducting. I'm half hoping they install to our development (I registered interest ages ago), but I'd honestly consider moving house if needs be.

I *need* symmetric 1Gbps. :p

Normally Hyperoptic is only rolled out to blocks of flats, this is because it's cost effective and easy to run a single fibre into a building, whack a metro-ethernet switch in the basement - then use existing structured cabling to run connections to the end user.

I'd be *amazed* if Hyperoptic would run fibre (or even copper) to individual houses, because it would cost them a fortune in dig costs - and as a designer for a large ISP, I can tell you there is absolutely no appetite for digging up roads these days.

AFAIK, it's basically reserved for specific flats/blocks where most of the work has been done already,

Just to annoy the hell out of you:
