*****Official Ivybridge Review Thread*****

Its a bit of a cheat isn't it? Don't run the stability benches which will show instability.

AIDA64 in that video was running at 90C+ already in a good open air test setup.

Is it yet confirmed whether or not the 3570K clocks any better than a 3770K? I would've thought that HT would increase temps on the 3770K, so if JJ is getting 4.8GHz on a 3770K in the video posted above with a H60, surely squeezing a little extra from a 3570K using a better cooler should be doable.

Just make sure you delay getting married / children - they can reduce your disposable income greatly! ;)

Or find someone like Mrs Bios!

Ahah. Well if I work damn hard you never know I may end up at Bethsda Studios/some other high end company pulling a lot more than 100k a year :P I shall be hopeful... And work damn hard at that same time.. :D

...as does divorce! but life gets better from that point on! Hence I'm re-building my pc for the first time in a long time! :D

Rofl. Divorce oh dear I know all about that too well my Dad makes sure I know what he thinks of my Mum and how much she was his biggest mistake ahah. But such is life. :p I just try to laugh it off now adays... Or build shiny new computers since I love building/taking things apart :D

Apparently PCIE 3.0 is support on Z68/P67/H67 and H61

So the difference isn't worth changing for?

EDIT: watching that newegg video....my god americans use the term "go ahead" far far too much.

Old chipsets only supported a single PCI-e 3.0 slot AFAIK

dual pci-e 3.0 @ 8x8x == dual pci-e 2.0 @ 16x16x

Lucid Vscoobydo or whatever it's called v2 which no one uses has been upgraded ehem 'fixed'

Direct USB3 pipeline to the CPU

More emphasis on mSata ?

Worth the upgrade ? Not really imho unless you're building for a 5 yr cycle and pci-e 3.0 really takes off with monster GPUs

So being a single GPU user that doesn't use msata, barely used USB3 yet and doesn't use lucid scoobydoobydoo (:p) I'm best off sticking where i am then.

Good to know, might just get the CPU upgrade and maybe treat myself to a second 27" monitor then

IB is worth less of an upgrade more of a new fresh build from a lot older chipsets so to speak.

I've read that sentance about 10 times and it still doesn't make any sense :p

The reason being because it's a tock not a tick so to speak. Offers nothing really to someone who is already on SB since PCI 2 16x doesn't get saturated hell not even PCI 2 8x gets saturated fully yet either. Which makes PCI 3 just a little pointless for those already on SB. The lucid again not much of a big improvement. And the CPU themselves have 5-10% performance gaining over SB. Hence making a new build completely after having say a Q6600 its worth while. But going from SB to IB not so much.

I totally agree. But for those to whom Quick Sync is important this is a viable upgrade. 30+%

I'm taking it for that sole reason alone. Had it not been for that I would sit tight on my SB i7

i5 SB, I've wanted to upgrade to an i7 for a while now though. If i'd had a 2600/2700 i wouldn't be bothering.

Will be running it under a Noctua NH-D14 on an Asus P8P67.

Not sure if it will be decent upgrade. If you're maxing out your i5 then far enough.... if not then neck a few whiskeys like Ollie1132 and convince yourself that your upgrade is worth it :D
