** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

Newcastle would be a good move for him, arguably got more chance of Premiership football there next season than Bolton, Hull or Wolves.

Fulham signing Stefano Okaka on loan from Roma with an option to sign him permanently at the end. Good to see us signing another striker with Zamora/Kamara injured and our other backup loaned out.

Can't blame Beckford tbh, he's not a spring chicken and is far too good for Division 3.

As a fellow supporter out of the Prem at least give our league it's rightful name. Does my head in the amount of people who always get it wrong.

Sheff Wed: Championship (Not Division 1)
Leeds: League 1

;)

Rumour doing the rounds that we've got Jay Jay Okocha in on trail... surely he's too old now to be effective in a Championship side?!

Might be a bums on seats ploy though.

Reports of a big clearout at UTD cant be true surely? Berb/Anderson/Nani/Vidic no way they will all go thats a lot of players that need to be replaced in an already thin squad :s

To be honest I can believe it

Rooney is a fabulous player, but this season has proved that he cant do it all on his own (as if proof was needed, he could still score 25-30 this season after all)

For all his fancy flicks and stuff Berbatov just isnt cutting it at Utd for whatever reason, Nani (and Park) are just not the Utd quality - I can see Park being kept on for Marketing reasons though.

While Vidic keeps on saying he is happy at OT, his form has deteriorated (partly because of injuries), I wouldnt be surprised IF a decent offer of £20m + coming in during the summer from Spain that he would be allowed to leave

One person I dont believe will be sold is Anderson - yes he has been inconsistant this season, but he is still pretty young so another season wouldnt be out of the question.

Tosic and Foster will also go Im pretty sure, and even though I know he is young, I wouldnt be sad to see Gibson go also. He has been a fantastic servant to the club but I am PRAYING Scholes retires at the end of this season also (I know he has been offereed a one year ext but not sure he has signed yet)

Required

GK, Centre Half, Right Back, creative central midfielder, left winger , striker

(Neuer, Rodwell, ?, ?, DSilva, DVilla

(or we could put D Silva as the creative midfielder and use Obertan on the wing)

Utd can probably generate £40 - £50m at least in sales if the whole lot of the above go, which might allow £70 - 80m to be spent at a minimum, however its rare that Fergie spends that kind of amount in one window, and he has been quite focal about needing a gk and a striker (which are likely to cost £20m+ for top quality examples)

FrankJH thats pretty optimistic getting Silva/Villa in :s

The debt at UTD is really killing them by the looks of it, 10m worse off this year than last until they sold Ronaldo and he hasn't had that money to spend has he.

Selling key players means it will be paying off the debt first and foremost leaving very little to buy quality back.

I think Atletico Madrid want 40m for Villa alone! So all that money from selling the players you listed might get you one.

If you can tempt one - it may well be a lot easier to tempt the other one also

Not saying it would be easy by any means (whether they even want to leave Spain is still not known for sure - even though RM and Barca are unlikely to go for Villa) but they are the types of player we need

I think you are wrong regards the debt, considering the £20m or so we spent on Valencia & Obertan I think we were £10m BETTER off in 09 compared to 08 (and other financial reports back that up - some even suggesting , I admit Im not sure how, that the club (and not Glazers) paid LESS interest in 09 also compared to the year before)

End of the day whether the above is true or not - We start this year with nearly £50m profit - I think everyone can agree on that (all reports are stating this clearly). It may not automaticaly go on the team, I totally agree with this, but seeing as we can just about pay the debts with other income there is no reason why this cant be used for new players. This also stands for any revenue gained from selling players to be plowed back into the team

Given TV money and match day income covers this years debt for the club (and if anything we will have change left over) - not only should that £50m be available come the summer , but also some of the new AON shirt deal money which start in summer '10.

At this point there is nothing to suggest Fergie is lieing about having the money to spend and given the situation with the WC coming up player prices WILL be inflated, it always happens this way and its the nature of the market.

I would also suggest that the only way Utd can hope to continue to pay off the debt IS by investing in the team and staying at or near the top of the EPL/ within the CL places

Liverpool would be completely ****** with less than half our debt if they dont get back into the top four by the end of the season (Im no expert on Utd's finances let alone Liverpool's so maybe they could afford to have one or two seasons in the other euro cups but probably not much longer than that) and of course that in itself is a slippery slope as its harder to attract the players you need to climb back up - becoming a kind of catch 22

Or on the other hand that money could vanish into the Glazer's pockets (which wouldnt surprise me after how much they have taken out of the club in the last few years) - the supports just have to HOPE that they do the sensible thing and dont do this

Rumour doing the rounds that Sol has signed for Arsenal until the end of the season and will play for the reserves tonight.

I'm no expert on Utd's finances, but without the money they got for Ronaldo they would have made a £30m loss. Surely that doesn't bode well?
