** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

Rumour is he's signed until the end of the season. Can you play for the reserves if you're on trial? I think it's only friendlies tbh so he must have signed to be playing.

Even i would pick Senderos ahead of a current Sol and i think Senderos is atrocious. Song can play CB when he's back from ACON if required. He's old, slow and no where near match fit plus he just doesn't seem to be mentally right these days. Plus we have the young big black fella at the back whose name i can't remember, think he played in one of the Carling Cup games.

Eastmond?

I think Sol can do a job, he's not cup tied, he's free, he knows Wenger and the club - I don't think it's as bad a move as people first think.

As long as it's not the end of the signings anyway.

Arsenal must be desperate. Wenger decided that Campbell was no longer good enough and lets him go then a few years later decides that he is good enough.

Not really, Mancini just brought Vieira in and he's way past his best, maybe they want the players for their influence and experience, something Arsenal could do with.

When Arsenal buy all young players they get slated for lack of experience, now they get some older heads in they're desperate, can they win?

Mancini never let Viera go over 3 years ago. Wenger thinks Campbell is not good enough or did he let him go for some other reason. Campbell is not any better now than he was in 2006 when Wenger let him go.

Its a joke to be honest, his complete loss of pace was SO obvious in his last year(two years really) at Pompie, he was so easily turned and when you're just ahead its far easier to outmuscle someone as you have the advantage. His immense strength in the old days was actually on a fairly fast player, when you're behind the strength is fairly useless as anything but shoulder to shoulder you can't really exert your strength.

He's shot, he's been on the decline for years, if he wasn't good enough when he was playing week in week out, how on earth can he be good enough having played one match this season, clearly won't be match fit and won't be good enough if he was match fit. Aren't we already throwing wages down the drain on the likes of Silvestre who we refuse to play.

As for mentality and bringing something to the club, well he's had what you assume was a breakdown, walked out on his contract for unknown reasons, supposedly moving to Europe, ended up on a huge pay packet at Pompie thanks to no transfer fee in one of the most ridiculous things to happen under Wenger at the time, when frankly we should have been recouping 10mil + on him rather than losing him for nothing.

INsisted on going to a league 2 club saying he'd do great there, walked out again after one game, sorry but whats that GREED and lack of commitment going to do to help our kids develope into better players/people?

For a club thats lost quite a few fantastic players due to our ridiculous over 30's policy, we're bringing in ultra expensive older people who don't play, while still being stingy over contracts for our older players, few that there are.

The simple fact is we don't need desparate cover, we need an EQUALLY good 3rd centre back so we can actually rotate our defence, keep the 3rd CB in some form and the rotation should help stop players getting injured in the first place. Why have a whole host of backup players who aren't good enough for the first team and never play them?

Lets see the nonsense as we spend the money Wenger is willing to, on an expensive striker despite having basically a dozen central attacking players at this point, and then get in a free but probably highish wage CB whose not good enough, and not bother with wingers, or a real CB who might actually be good enough, hell, or a decent ruddy keeper.

I would imagine we signed him so we don't have to play Silvestre any more. Campbell and Gallas at the centre with Vermalen covering the left back if need be.

Pompey.

To be far I think Sol did the right thing in walking out, look what happened with the clubs 'backers', if he was still there, the club would be in even more trouble than it is now.

If he plays as many games as Senderos has this season, I don't see an issue. He hasn't signed yet aswell.

I'm no expert on Utd's finances, but without the money they got for Ronaldo they would have made a £30m loss. Surely that doesn't bode well?

This is what I was trying to say. UTD are only in profit because they sold him, take the £80m they got for him and UTD would actually be 10m worse off than the previous year.

To say that you have 50m profit is a bit of a lie really because the sale of one player has covered up a whacking great hole in their finances.

He certainly get it all to spend, you might get one awesome player from it but that will be as far as it stretches I expect.

Oh for god's sake, I really don't want Sol coming back. :/

I suppose at least this will mean the shift of Senderos.

What was this I heard about Adebayor giving an interview to Sky in an Arsenal shirt?
