** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

Fair enough they seem like idiots. Are they taking money out of the football club legally? Still, despite the goings on in the backround, Liverpool have had enough to spend on players, I'd say fans of any club in the prem besides Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City would be delighted if they had the same amount spent at their club over the last 5 years or so. That's why I sometimes think Liverpool fans act a bit spoilt, there has been lots spent

The £12m is the signing on fee. It goes to the player, not the club. So that £25m fee is based on him signing a pre-contract agreement for the summer, with £12m going ho him, and the rest of it is made up in wages.

That seems quite pricy for a free agent in the summer. Didnt they only want about 7m for him when Arsenal approached in the summer?

Nice bit of business if thats the case

Even better than first thought :D

Indeed.

Maxi was doing quite well last season and the season before iirc, but went off the boil this season.

Anyway, he'll want to go to the World Cup, so as long as Rafa plays him Maxi will (hopefully) be out to prove something and get to go to the World Cup.

Could be quite a nice bit of business by Rafa.

Players get massive signing on fees that aren't included in the transfer fees. If they're relatively good, you can bet he's getting at least £5m to sign, seeing as they're not even paying Bordeaux, I'd assume they'll give him more, and to dissuade him from going to Arsenal/Juve etc. who will also offer him a fair chunk in signing on fees

David James to Stoke on loan till the end of the season with Portsmouth paying (if he is lucky :p) half his wages. Things must be real bad at Portsmouth for them to do this.

liverpool better get a new striker in the jan sales as torres is out for 6 weeks with knee op, gerrard out for 4 weeks and yossi for 3 weeks with a cracked rib. Its just getting worst and worst.

Or better and better, depending on your stance :p

Me personally I think its a shame, I'd love for Liverpool to be up there competing for the league like last season.

Or he's an incredibly dodgey keeper who constantly makes big mistakes, is on a huge wage, is old, took an injury and the replacement has been fantastic? Have you watched Pompie, almost every fan, and every pundit and commentator has pointed out they'll have a problem when James comes back because his replacement has been so damn good, like, brilliant.

They've got a young keeper with a decade to play ahead of him, whose playing better, whose probably on 1/4, or less than what James is making, and an expensive keeper who is worse, loaning him out makes perfect sense, anyone that had seen the new keeper play would think so. He hasn't had a single good game here and there, he's been mostly brilliant in a whole bunch of games without a single terrible performance, unlike James.

There is a rumour going round Stoke that Sorenson may be off to Bayern Munich. David James may drop the odd clanger but no where near as many clangers as Foster or Green and they have been England Goalkeeper whilst James has been out injured. Not sure if James will play Saturday but he will be first choice for Stoke.

Surprised Stoke have gone for it, but I guess he must just be back-up. Sorensen is a fantastic keeper.

It seems there may have been more meat to the Bayern interest "rumours" than everyone initially thought, the only reason to bring James in would be if there was any chance of Sorro leaving. :(

I'd put Sorensen ahead of James, personally.

Guess we'll see.
