How many penaltys did Sorro save in a row?

It's all about the name and where you have played. Everyone probably rates Ben Foster better than Sorro, just because he plays for United.

I know sorro is a good keeper, and one of the best in the league. But that Castrol monstrosity proves nothing. It's useless.

As are any stats/rankings. Good for provoking debate though. ;)

:D

He's just that, a decent keeper. Nothing more.

He's had a better season than nearly everybody though, including all the 'top' goalkeepers in the league. People might not think he's great overall, but there's no denying there's been hardly anybody better this season, I can't think of any

I wouldn't say that's because he's been outstanding, that's because everyone else has been fairly poor this season and he's been made to look better.

haha you sound like an English journalist describing everything good that Arsenal have done this season.

lol, its computer generated, thats not good, look at football manager and how retarded some of the things it decides are.

Likewise, if you see how completing a pass in a certain area gets you more points. How often do you see Song/Diaby pass it 5 yards to each other, about 50 times right outside the box without going anywhere. While Fabregas/Xavi/Iniesta constantly try the more difficult incisive passing that obviously won't get through as often, but they are penalised for that and not gaining points for useless ineffective passing. Basically the entire Castrol Index is an utter joke.

However, Sorenson has been in superb form this season, his penalty saving put aside, largely because Cesc, Lampard and was it one other, all took the worst penalties of their careers, he's been solid as rock the rest of the season. He's top in the Bud Premier league fantasy football stats, based on bonus points for great games, number of saves and not conceding too many too often. Though he gets to save more often, as the defence is worse and a team that trys to absorb pressure. Who did Liverpool lose 2-0 to, Pompie with the two unstoppable shots, but it wasn't a game he saved 30 shots and let 2 in, he let in the 2 chances of the game which makes his performance appear awful.

None of the index's are that useful as the people that come up with them have their own idea about whats good football and whats not. One index will heap points on a back 4 that just passes it back and forth without pushing it forwards, another will punish them for being negative and the team not creating chances. One will give points for a completed pass if it touches a player on their team, even if its blasted in and he loses posession a split second later as it was uncontrollable, another will take points off for an incomplete pass that was an inch away from creating a tap in goal and it was the other players fault he didn't get to it. Index's mean smeg all.

Randall has gone on loan to MK Dons, will be interesting to see where he's played, for years with us he was basically a Cesc position type, but the past year or two we seem to be turning the skinny lad into a midfield enforcer, which he seems pretty poor at. Can't see him lasting at Arsenal at all, no progression at all in the past 2-3 years.

James ain't coming here.

Portsmouth thought we'd be paying 100% of the greedy ****s wages, pffft, he's not worth that much. And besides, they've got plenty of money to be wasting...right?

He's alright, there is a reason he was playing at Stoke.
Yeah, quality keepers never play at clubs below their level right? That's why Given stayed at Newcastle for some time after they started declining, or why Akinfeev is still at CSKA despite the FM experts bumming him constantly, or why Van der Sar and Almunia play at two of the top clubs in this league?

If I tell you Jussi Jaaskelainen is also up there as one of the better keepers in this league, will you have a complete breakdown?

Given was a special case because he was so loyal to the club he played for. Sorensen moved to Stoke on a free transfer in the summer, if he's such a world class keeper then why did no-one else go for him?

Akinfeev is at pretty much the biggest club in his home country, they have no need to sell and perhaps he doesn't want to move yet? Don't forget this is a side that won the Uefa Cup a few years back and are playing CL football now.

I'm not saying Sorensen is a bad keeper but I don't think he'd be as good at one of the top 4 clubs, I'd much rather have someone like Van De Saar when it came to the big European games and the like.

I never said he was world class. At Sunderland he was pretty good, and at Villa he was ok, but at Stoke I happen to think he's been fantastic. I'd imagine no-one else went for him because he wasn't particularly well regarded at the time, what with not being first choice. Shock horror, surprise buy turns out to be quality player. Hardly the first time it's happened.

I'd have him at Arsenal, but I guess that's not saying much is it? I'd probably have Myhill*, given Almunia's current form.

*Kidding.

Just out of curiousity, have all the people saying Sorenson isn't good seen much of him this year? I'm truly confused. If you had watched him play this season then you'd just agree that he's been .. good, there isn't really much to debate, he's having a great season. Maybe he's finally hitting good form, it's well known that keepers' mature later than players anyway

Sorenson is a average keeper simples

That doesn't necessary means he's a bad keeper but it doesn't mean he a great keeper either, like you said he's a good/solid keeper nothing more nothing less. He's only been getting headlines this season due to saving a few pens.

Joe Hart has been by far the only keeper to truly impress this season
