** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

A 6 month loan deal would be a good signing with maybe a move to a permanent move - takes the risk factor of splashing the cash.

12.10 Sky Sports News understands Arsenal have made an approach for Fulham defender Chris Smalling in a deal which could eventually rise to £7million. However, Fulham want to hang on to the promising young centre-half.

Hope not, I'd rather sell Hangeland!

:o Is Smalling good? I saw the rumour, haven't seen him play though yet

Yeah he is, especially because he's still young, haven't really changed our performances every time he's played, and is more comfortable on the ball than Hangeland. Very good on the ball, and in the air. We paid £50k from Maidstone i think it was.

Milos Krasic's agent, Dejan Joksimovic, has revealed that he has been to England to talk to a number of clubs interested in the Serbian.

The CSKA Moscow winger was hugely responsible for helping the Russians qualify for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League this term in a group that contained Premier League champions Manchester United.

The 25-year-old, who scored four goals in six Champions League group games this season, was awarded for his sterling performances when he collected the Serbian Player of the Year title last month sparking more interest in his services.

CSKA are thought to want to keep hold of their prized asset until June in order to give themselves the best possible chance in Europe but a January move is not out of the question according to Joksimovic.

"Was I in Italy? No I was in England. Many English teams like Milos," he told calciomercato.it.

"Roberto Mancini is thinking of him but currently Manchester City nor the other interested teams have elaborated an official offer.

"CSKA Moscow want to keep him until June. If he leaves in January, Italian clubs are virtually cut off because the player has no EU passport and he costs a lot."

As well as Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all reportedly tracking Krasic.

Will probably get a few of the United fans on this forum excited :p

I think the EPL should not let people buy clubs in the maner man utd and liverpool have been bought.

Randy Lerner bought Villa, and was more or less in the same financial situation as Hicks/Gillett and the Glazers were before they each bought the respective clubs. Lerner has been a fantastic owner, the other 3 Americans have been pretty awful. It's up to the people who own the club to decide whether to sell, and who to.

Villa were bought for around £60 odd million if my memory serves me correctly, not even in the same ballpark as the figures for Liverpool or Man Utd. He didn't saddle the club with debt when he took over.

The Glazers have been awful? Yes they've brought huge debt to the club but the manager has always had funds and we've won countless trophies as well.

People are purely speculating that there's no money now because we didn't sign a star name when we sold Ronaldo in the summer but like SAF said then who was there? Splash at least 60million on a Ribery? No thanks.

You actually think the Glazers have been good for Utd?

Everything you have won has been despite of them not because of them. In real terms, you've had far less money to spend since they've taken over than before and they've saddled the club with mountains of debt and are taking out a bond scheme with the sole purpose of paying off their PIK notes (ie transfering more of their personal debt onto the club).

Also regarding whether the club have money to spend or not. If they do have the Ronaldo money like Fergie is claming then why are you planning to take out a further £75m loan to fund player purchases?

Put it this way I wouldn't say they've been awful like the OP said

You can reel of whatever x amount of different things the papers have said but until I see anything on the clubs official website I'll take it all with a pinch of salt (haven't even heard the one you've just mentioned about us needing to take out a loan to buy players)

As for the manager having less money that's rubbish, it's been during the Glazer's reign where Fergie has spent the most money in one close season when he brought in Nani for 17m, Anderson for 18m & Hargreaves for 18m not to mention adding Tevez's massive wages to the bill. All that was the summer after shelling out 18m for Carrick and the summer before spending 30m for Berbatov. Even this past summer we still spent 17m on Valencia.

Firstly regarding the £75m loan, this is confirmed by the club in the bond scheme document.

Regarding transfers; of course if you directly compare transfer fees then you're spending more now however the amount of money in the game isn't the same as it was. 5 of 6 years ago only a couple of clubs in the league could afford to spend more than £10m on a player, these days there are only a couple that haven't spent £10m on a player, which is why I said 'in real terms'. Utd are generating far more money now than they were (like all clubs) which has pushed transfer fees up however Utd's spending isn't a great deal more now than it was pre-takeover. You spent ~£50m in 2001 when you signed Veron and RvN.

The Man Utd exodus begins:

Who's next? Rooney? Vidic? Time will tell.

Rafael's emergence really spelt the end for him, shame he looked a good prospect and if Newcastle get promoted I'm sure he'll end up being a good Premier League full back. Better than Bardsley anyway :p

Oh and Baz got a link to that document? Would certainly contradict everything SAF has said previously about money being available if true....
