** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

More gutter journalism from the Daily Fail.

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard is ready to quit the club he joined as a nine-year-old two decades ago. Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan and Premier League big spenders Manchester City are believed to be interested in a deal.

Nothing in that story.

Can't see him moving to Birmingham. He's already rejected Sunderland on the grounds they're beneath him and I wouldn't be surprised if he's holding out for Real or Barca.

I think he needs to consider it. He has a world cup coming up, and i think Rafa made it quite clear how his future looks with Liverpool after leaving him out of the squad.

Babel just needs to play football, to improve as a player and to see if he could steal a World Cup place.

He won't do either at Liverpool.

I feel sorry for Babel. Rafa has treated him unfairly and I feel he needs a good run in the team as he is a decent player.

Care to explain how he's been treated unfairly?

edit: regarding Jones; it appears as if there's too many obstacles in the way of that deal. We want him on loan, they're only interested in a permanent deal, even if we agree to that we're going to have to sell Babel (both our valuation and his ego will make that difficult) and then we've got to agree a fee with Sunderland which I can't see happening if they're after £12m+ as reported.

I really don't see Jones as a 12 million pound player. I hope thats a smokescreen. Do a deal to get Chamakh from Bordeaux now for the summer, and give Pacheco more opportunities in the meantime.
