** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

The REAL Ronaldo ;)

I see Puyol and Xavi have told pep (by all accounts) not to sign Robinho because he will upset the dressing room. He seems to have quite a habit of it and a bit of a discipline issue as well :(

No really big signings so far all a bit boring, David Villa has dropped a hint about the EPL for once but that doesnt mean much for now.

Welbeck has been loaned out to Fergie's sons club Preston, should do well there, fully expect him to score bag load of goals!

Looks like Gradel has signed a permanent deal. Very happy with that.

Azza, I can't tell, are you an Arsenal or Everton fan?

Everton, surely the post above is the clue. Of course if your trying to be funny Big Phil is good solid CB. Perhaps a little slow, and prone to the odd mistake, but once he has his confidence back he'll be a fine CB for many years to come. Maybe not at the top top level, but certainly Premiership standard. :)

I thought Arsenal fans would be glad to see the back of him.

Always been a fan of his. He has never deserved the stick he has got. He's no Maldini but he's no Gus Casear either.

senderos is a decent player but how much competetive football has he played recently?

None. He's played 2 Carling cups this season and a few times for the Swiss.

I personally am. I'm all for giving people another chance but I remember what he was like before going to Milan. He almost averaged one seriously bad mistake per game.

I'm presuming that Everton will pay his wages (otherwise why are we just lending him out). If Wenger does go for somebody else he'll have a bit of cash to go for.

Decent, now Grayson has to decide who to play in the middle out of Kilkenny, Howson and Doyle as I want Gradel on the right, Snoddy on the left, or vice versa. Howson is not a RM.

Kilkenny third name on my team sheet this season.

What a daft thing to say, every player, bar none, makes at least one mistake a game, normally many more. Senderos was part of a makeshift backline that got us the defensive record in the champions league. He's not good as a purely one off player though, if he was used in rotation properly and could establish at least some form he's 50 times the player he is when used 4 times a season. Even that year with the champs league he was awful when used once in a blue moon and not at all good in his first 2-3 games in his run when he was in the team, after a few games his form improves dramatically though and in 5-6 games he's a massively better player.

The majority of players in the league get better when played more frequently, bit of confidence mixed in with match fitness and practice. Really players should be able to play whenever asked perfectly, in reality though you DON'T go balls out in training or reserve games, because playing on the edge and risking injury in those situations is stupid, when in a full on league match the stakes are different, tackles become very real and it IS a different level, pretending otherwise is stupid.

He's unquestionably better than Silvestre, Djourou, Song and probably Campbell(these days), and most likely on a lot less than Silvestre. Throw away another good younger player whose cheap and only needs a few more games than he's getting to want to stay. Ridiculous tbh, what would have happened if we kept Upson and rotated the team more, we'd have a valuable extra quality prem league defender on the cheap, more than capable to step in full time for an injury to Gallas/Verm and way more than good enough for giving those guys a rest when playing less good teams or during heavy game loads.

He's certainly going to be better than what we have already with our injury situation.

Senderos looks like a confidence player, and when he has no confidence he has disasters, which lead to less confidence. He seems like a good guy though so I hope he works it out, he's capable of being a good player with a bit of patience imo

That's the point I was making, he doesn't seem to recover quickly enough from making one bad hash after another, so in all, he almost used to single handedly average the loss of a few points per game. It's a pity, he seems a good lad, but by the time he gets the amount of time he requires, we'd have lost a few games. No disrespect to Everton but maybe another Premier League can afford this, we can't if we want to mount a serious challenge.

It seems to have happened in the past and I don't see it changing.
