** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

Good news is that Smalling will be given plenty of game time

Good for us that is ;)

Not sure really, Hangeland/Hughes are fit,and we have Shorey for left back, so we dont need to put our only other full back at the left, to use Smalling. Although he will play a few more games, definitely.

there is not enough revenue from tv deals, advertising, league, cups, etc. to help us compete with other teams in leagues with a lot more money.

scotland has a population of 5 million, we need to move to a bigger league to become bigger and better, because this league is far too small for us.

welsh teams play in england, yet scottish ones can't? seems hypocritical to me.

I agree. Kick the taffs out!

I doubt Arsenal will accept monopoly money ;)

They might accept magic beans. :p

On a serious note, Fabregas would be absolutely perfect for Man Utd. He could play with his hero Paul Scholes until he retired. :D

Three things:

1.) Would Arsenal accept an offer from us?
2.) Would we be able to out bid Barca?
3.) Would Fabregas choose United over Barca?

The answer to all 3 is no imo.

1) They might have to if we actually bid on him for a good amount.
2) Who knows as they keep denying that they want him.
3) Probably not. :( Couldn't blame him really.

The only reason they would have to accept is if we were the only club bidding in the price range they wanted. I just can't see us winning that one. Pity as I would love to see him at United.

Rumors in Spain that Fab has agreed terms with Barca.

Was reported in 3/4 papers at the same time. It's being spun in a very similar way to how Ronaldo was.

Massive shame if he leaves the Premiership, same as it was with Ronaldo leaving.

I don't blame him because Wenger is showing no intent to get some quality players in around him, so why not leave and get some silverware.

I reckon he'll give it another season though, see if Arsenal do anything and if not he'll be off.

He's going to have to ask will he be guaranteed a starting place though. There is already massive competition (Keita, Busquets, Toure) for the 3rd, deeper CM spot at Barca (which isn't really Cesc's natural position) and he's not going to displace the golden boys Xavi/Iniesta anytime soon.

So it's a choice of having a team built around you (with Wenger hopefully spending in the summer) at Arsenal or be a squad player at Barca. Obviously money talks and it's his home, so we'll just have to see.

At his age and level of talent/potential ability he's just as irreplaceable in his position as Ronaldo was to Man Utd.
