*** Official Kinect Thread ***

That's a shame, i thought they'd have a system like the Mii's on the Wii, profiles for people to use on your console (but still picking up gamerpoints for that gamertag)

Had to make wor lass a gamertag, though not putting it live.

Just had a quick read through this and couldn't see it mentioned, but can someone let me know roughly how much space is needed for this - both from the sensor and also the space around you.

My girlfriend bought me a Kinect for my Birthday at the weekend.

It is incredible how it works, and works so well. Such a laugh to play. I bet Nintendo feel slightly hard done by because the Kinect is leaps and bounds ahead of the Wii. You actually feel like you are doing some exercise rather than sitting down and waving just your arm like what you can do on the Wii.

Great stuff! A lot of fun!

I'm really enjoying mine still after having it since launch day. The only thing I'm struggling to get my head round is actually having to move around in some games! In table tennis I'm guilty of falling in to the Wii problem of standing and trying to hit the ball from the same spot, rather than moving myself into position etc. I think I feel slighter fitter since getting this thing :p

I don't think they will feel cheated. More like confirmation that their ideas and thinking was correct.

People forget that the Wii is now 4 years old. The motion tech for the Wii must have been in development since very early 2000s.

I personally think that the Wii was a test from Nintendo to gauge how motion controls would be perceived by the public. Why? Well Nintendo used Gamecube components and just improved them, so it was cheap to manufacture. Also backed up by the fact that Nintendo see profit from every Wii sold, ever. So if the Wii flopped, they didn't lose money.

Nintendo will be looking at Kinect and Move and plotting their own direction.

Traded in my old launch 360 & picked up the new 250GB Black with the Kinect package. Tbh I had not even considered the Kinect until then.

So glad I did now, Kinect Sports is awesome :D Love the bowling especially. Really adds another aspect to the 360.

Really impressed & can't wait to see what comes to it.

I must say, as a severe sceptic who hadn't had his 360 out since the first GOW (4-5 years?), this thing is freaking superb. Really, I'm a bit shocked at how good it works. Today I saw a sight which had me ... flabbergasted. I got home to see the girlfriend playing the 360. She adores the Kinect Sport and has been telling everyone about it. Everyone who's been over and played it, either bought one, or really want one.

Really looking forward seeing what they're going to do with this thing in the future.

I just traded my 360 Elite, a wii plus wii fit and a Fat 80Gb PS3 and bought myself a new 250Gb s plus Kinect, plus Kinectimals, Kinect Sports and Your Shape Evolved. The wife has let me have my 360 but the Kinect and games are for xmas, sigh :(

considering getting a kinect but wondering bout space issues, have about 6ft back before i hit the sofa and about 9ft wide will that be enough? (im about 5ft 8) also been told if im gonna get a fitness game get fitness evolved over active 2 due to space issues?

You should get away OK with that space for most things. I'd say, unfortunately, avoid EA Sports Active 2 unless you have around 8 feet of clear space. It needs a LOT of room, and can be very frustrating when you're almost shuffling under the coffee table so it can see you do press ups.

if i was to wall mount it near the ceiling (id say floor to ceiling is about 9ft) would this give me abit more space to play with? my missus is keen on the active 2 :(

It's worth a try. I'd say mount it, then rent the game and give it a go before purchasing. You don't have to use the heart-rate sensor to play it. :)
