Set up kinect yesterday, with the slim xbox.
Also bought Sports for the kids and off we went. My 3 yr old had troubles, not with kinect , but with the concept of " stop running in front of the tv " as he would be picked up and ruin the game. My 5yr old was much better. He / we played bowling, water rafting alone and together and we had good honest fun.
Space: Who put my lights at the same exact spot as the sweet kinect spot ?
I have about 8-9 feet of space in front of the tv before you hit the sofas, and about 6 -7 feet wide So it was fine for most of the time. Any less and i think it could be a compromise. Width wise, you felt as if you would have to sit still and quiet to not interfere with the other person’s game. At least in my lounger
I'm 6' and my eldest son 110cm, so Kinect generally coped with the 2 player aspects of the games we have played despite the height difference,
Not tried the voice activation yet, its not “prompted “me to explore that aspect ...
What is very good is that when it recognises your face it logs you on and adjusts the kinect device. So when my son stands there, he can play the game without any need for me to babysit him with the controls. So turn on xbox, give it a wave and off he went playing.
Only touched the surface really for all its features, price wise it’s not cheap, but the look of the kids faces is priceless. My 3 yrd old can't fully grasp the controller concept of moving and spatial awareness, but he can bowl and play football perfectly well!
Blends perfectly well with the TV so, you don’t notice the extra box sitting there.
No doubt when the killer games come out, it will be very merry immersive and popular. Just don’t get to into the hype! . Black ops currently has me a little more excited, but that isn’t a 5yr olds game.
