*** Official Kinect Thread ***

I may be wrong, but from that video it looks like you have the Kinect sensor in front of you and your TV to one side- does that have any impact on how you play at all?

I was going to ask the same thing - whether the sensor has to be directly in line with the middle of the TV or whether you could have it off to the side.

You deffinitely need a lot of room for it, for some games like bowling and maybe boxing just space in front, maybe 6-8ft I would say. But for other games, like the rafting in Adventures, or football you probably need a good 4-6ft width as well.

I thought i'd have plenty of room, as our front room is shaped pretty good for this type of thing, and I even felt a little restricted. 2 player is a deffinite no go at this stage.

Yep, mine has just arrived. Cant believe how much space you need for it. I have to move my couch back a foot to give myself space to move freely

Just got it this evening, but haven't had a chance to play much beyond a bit of Kinect Adventures fun with the Mrs.

I have the sensor about 8 - 10 inches to the right of center of the telly - between the center and right surround speakers (if you get what I mean).

Works just fine there, so definitely doesn't need to be exactly central.

Correct - TV is in front of the bed with about 30cm of space so the sensor is too the side - doesnt seem to effect it to much other then I have to look to my side to see what I am doing!

Temporary until I move!

Got Kinect this morning. Have to say I love it and I think its fantastic. Been playing Kinect Sports mainly. Even the folks are playing games like bowling and table tennis. Its just great fun to play.

As others have said, it does require an awful lot of space though.

How in god's name are the Japanese going to play this? A typical Tokyo apartment, for example, contains hardly any space at all. They are only two rooms - bedroom/living room and a kitchenette/shower.

Good point. I would expect that there would be a huge uptake in Japan, I would have thought Wii and Playstation Move with be bigger sellers there.

Although you would need quite a bit of space for those when playing 2 player games just to avoid bumping into each other.

Just ordered a Xbox 360 Game Console with Kinect Sensor & Kinect Adventures - 4GB Memory. Does £229.87 inc. del sound like a good deal?

Will be my first console for a long, long time.

But after seeing all the fun and games people are having with the Kinect I reckon it will be worth the price. Should look good hooked up to my 60" plasma. :D

I am in my forties two, and now really struggle to get into games.
But saying that i still get a tad excited about new ones coming out, and still buy all the peripherals. and i mean all of them.
But as for the playing of the games, might have an hour every now n then, but boredom soon sets in, focusing on playing my guitar a bit more now, and reading some good books

Oh crap wrong thread, i must be getting old:(

Took this round a mates last night, and there were 7 of us playing for about 4 hours on Kinect Sports and Dance Central mostly... the girls were much better at Dance Central; though from a comedy perspective us blokes were!

Was really good fun, and it prompted 2 of the couples there to buy there own today - they have both Wii and Move and found the Kinect was much more fun - I am however so sore today, and we got their neighbours below a bottle of wine as we were doing a fair amount of track and field events! :)

see for athletic games in kinect do they give you a warm up period before hand? as when i did 100 metre sprint at a demo booth i felt as though it really should warm you up before you go like the clappers and run like hell and then get sore calfs etc.
