Haha! As we have said before in mumble and as Hippo said last night:

"L4D is such a great game because it is two games rolled into one:

1. Left for Dead; The game where you kill zombies and hunt survivors
2. Left for Lobby; where you are sat waiting and moving between random lobbies looking for a decent game/server/no rage quitters."

Agreed with Khaaan! it is always the foreign people who rage first. Having said that, sometimes they are the providers of most lulz.

This could be a stupid question, but do you have to have 4 "friends" to play team VS? Never actually tried.

Also are there any preferred servers? LTUK ones perhaps?

@Khaaan! Yes French always worst players in general for me. Also Russians - they seem to try hard i.e. always talking rusky gibberish tactics over voice chat, but they fail just as hard every time.

I'm quite sure you do have to have 4 friends in order for the lobby system to match you up to another 4 ready people to put you into a team vs game.

Your best bet is asking on this thread for people for a game and trying to organise one, or keep an eye out if Link is doing any OcUK games or anything. Spots are usually limited though and given to those who are known in the OcUK L4D circles.

There is a group to join and people you can add to try and get a game at some point. LTUK servers have a group which you can join as does OcUK have a L4D2 group. Don't have the links though, I'm sure you can find them!
 
I'm always up for trying to get 8 people to play again like in the early days of L4D2 and the days of L4D1.

Unfortunately trying to find 8 people who want to play and not always in the same set teams proves very difficult.

Team Versus is a good idea, but it's very broken due to the nature of the "pr0s" that play it, who pretty much always rage when they lose and/or constantly insist on confogl.

What I ideally need to find for L4D2 to be great again:

-8-16 people who'll play both Versus and Expert campaigns well, who don't mind mixing the teams, who'll all happily play on the LTUK servers (no mods) and who between them have 8 other friends who are good at the game, who'd all be up for 8v8 on the odd occasion (the server is up again as we moved physical servers, which reminds me that I need to update the first post with their IPs). Chances of that happening? Quite low. :(

To set up your game to always use the LTUK servers. At least 1 should be free most of the time, LTUK3 or LTUK5, but if none are, the command in the autoexec.cfg file will stop you from being able to join other servers. You will have to get someone else to host the game in this instance.

Agreed, most games are a complete waste of time nowadays. The rage quitting is beyond a joke, fortunately you dont have to put up with it.

All friends games is the way to go now. Do not play pubs if you value your sanity. You can still have a good game if you play people you know.

We have enough friends to fill a couple of lobbies without having all the french and russian crap.

If you play UK games and know people like Neloz, CPC464, Treggy, Lucky Locust, Bubba Gimp, Al Hardman, Xenomeister, Woody, Buggerlugs, Lemon, Kip, Em, Miles Tango, Pupu, Hatton, TWB Bloody Bill, OAP Respawn Junkie, Rob, ecto, Face, Heavy Mech, Just me, juicy moosey, Mac, OmegaPrime, and me mum then say hello.

I know a few of us are in the OCUK group. We have all friends games going everyday and night.

If you have just got the game then let us know as its normally fairly equal teams.

Good game last night lads, even though our team was used to wipe the floor with.

Mid, defrag, butch and steve..you guys make a very good team. Our team aren't exactly **** at the game, so i put it down to me and lyon not playing as much as you guys :p

Link, i was having some connection problems with the new server last night. I spent 3/4 of part 4 having mini time outs and severe lag.

I'm hoping it was a one off L4D thing because my connection is rock solid in BC2.

As for the ragers, don't get me started on those. The first time i ever played team vs it happened to me, so i gave it another chance and it happened again. It put me off team vs for good which is a shame.

Yeah they are pretty useless, 2 of them were using dual pistols :/. But saying that, they're much better than most randoms I've played with.

Only tried with bots as I like the map but it gets boring getting 40-50 mins per game. Makes it a bit more of a challenge!
 
Getting back into this and quite enjoying it. Would be up for a few games with OCUKers - my Steam nickname is apeZZZ and id is xtremelagger. :)
 
Well I recently decided to play this properly as since launch I only basically got through one round each. Can hold my own pretty well on advanced so think I may try to go expert now, would be great if could play with some people that aren't randomers though, steam ID is neoboy14051987 :)

Have a look at the sticky at the top of the sub-forum (or my sig) though with three of yous you nearly have a team already.
