Can someone clear this up for me, I'm not very good with Steam. My Steam ID is h2fscotty, as that's what people put in to add me to their list. But when I go to http://steamcommunity.com/id/h2fscotty it says page not found. Is my ID something different on the Steam site or something?

yeah, my friends name is the same as the account name as my second account, also with the same friends name.... account name is a better way to add people to your friends list since it has to be unique.
but the profile id must also be unique, and doesn't have to match either of the names... it's all very fun
