**** Official LG G4 Discussion Thread ****

Comments above like the LG keyboard, can you not just switch to using Google's keyboard, and use a different launcher etc?

I've never been a fan of rooting as it disables a few apps I need for business like banking.

Sorry. I should have made it clear that the lg keyboard is my personal issue, and that you have full access to any replacement apps you may prefer. Otherwise the differences between LGs ui and stock android are all improvements in my view', and you could load a different launcher if desired (including stock Google Now).

I just purchased an LG G4 from Carphone Warehouse.

I went in after having done a fair amount of research. The models I was contemplating in addition to the G4 were:

  • The LG G Flex 2, owing to its discounted price and flagship specs
  • The Moto X Play, which seems like a great all-rounder
  • The Nexus 5X
The assistant owned the Flex 2, and we had them out to compare. The G4 was markedly superior in every respect.

Unfortunately they did not have the X Play, but I am not too happy with Motorola essentially abandoning the 2015 Moto E, which my mother purchased earlier this year.

The 5X was nice and some of the features are awesome but the lack of an SD card is an absolute killer for my usage.

The assistant reduced the price to £309 and my credit card got some usage. I look forward to setting it up. I'm a long time Microsoft user across Windows Phone, Windows and Xbox, so will need to integrate Microsoft as deeply into Android as I can. Any tips?

I guess it helped that the store was pretty quiet, that I was the only customer and that I appeared serious about making a purchase. To get the price match done, I opened up the Amazon app on my phone and said I would buy if he met that price. He matched the price from there and took a photo for his records.

I got the gray, plastic finish. I would have liked the gold, but they didn't have any. Then again, I don't look at the back of a phone much anyway!

Great price from a shop ;) I was the same comparing them phones. I ordered the flex2 as the price for it is great but cancelled last minute. Figured the removeable battery, expandable memory and camera was the main things i was looking for when my N4 died.
G4 ticked all the boxes and when the price fell it was a no brained.

So are these phones tending to be reliable? What are their weakest points?

Coming from an LG G2 which overall has been excellent for 2 years.

I had a G2 and the G4 is better in just about every way apart from the size. I wish it was still G2 sized...

Not found any weak points or had any issues tbh..

This phone is £299 everywhere on HUKD at the moment. I've put in a bespoke offer to see how much more I can get off.

Still undecided as to whether to get the 5X, Moto X Play, this LG G4 or blow the lot and get a 6P. Will this LG G4 get Marshmallow is what I am wondering.

One thing about buying though bespoke is you save around £15 but don't have the customer service of say Amazon. Not worth the hassle for the small savings imo

G4 is getting marshmallow in Poland right now. They are the first non "Google company to release it :)

I've preordered the 6p but currently on the fence about it, I really don't think it's worth the extra over the G4 at £299, only thing it's missing is stock android and fingerprint scanner , but gains wireless charging, removable battery, micro sd card , fast changing and a possible better or on par camera.

Think I will wait till the 6p arrives I've waited this long ! Then have 14 days to return it if I'm not happy with it and get the G4

For me G4 over the 5x/play. Want the latest and greatest 6p. 5.5" screen is the limit for me though.

So have decided on a G4 mainly for the camera. Anyways, setup a flubit account and have been offered LG G4 H815 in brown leather for 275.93 which appears pretty good. I've not used flubit before and the merchant is the usual fireworks direct. If i have a problem do I deal directly with flubit or fireworks direct or whoever the actual merchant is? Can anyone tell me anywhere that can beat 275 for a brown leather G4? Ta

Just bought a g4. Anyone recommend a good silicone case that has good impact protection without being too bulky. Been looking at the casemate one which looks good. Also is it worth getting a fancy screen protector or would a cheapo one work just as well?

I have a Cruzerlite Bugdroid case which adds little bulk but gives good protection.....I just left the protector that was on it from new. I did read people have issues with some as the screen is slightly curved.

it will be with fireworks direct mate, not sure how good they are though

currently 275 is best price for a Brown Leather but is it worth the risk? :)

Mm, yes mate i agree is it worth the risk... The next best one I can find on Amazon is 319.99 from Original Deals fulfilled by Amazon. So does that mean if anything goes wrong I take it up with Amazon and not Original Deals? Cheers.
