*** Official Mass Effect 2 Thread ***

I've just finished the playthrough and don't like the decisions i've made..

SPOILER:
I destroyed the geth heretics and handed over the base.

If i do a 2nd playthrough and switch for the other options, will that be the decision that carries through to ME3?

If it's going to be the same as ME1->ME2, you'll get a choice as to which playthrough to load (each playthrough is a new character in essence).

I'm going to have do it again - my Legion died and he's my favourite character! :( :(

As far as i can remember, i only got the final result on my ME1 playthrough, but then again i may not have completed it the 2nd time through, probably got bored lol

Hmm, you've got me wondering now. My Xbox went doolally and was saving to both the USB memory stick and the HDD. Whether that gave me the choice I mentioned, I don't know now.

Was thinking about getting this game. (Recently upgraded to start PC gaming again).

Should I get the first and finish that and then go on to the second or just get the second and go from there?

Get the first. It's fantastic, too!

Back to ME2 - I only unlocked the Cain in the last part of the game but I couldn't work out how to fire it. Does it require something to lock on to and then you have to charge it up?

Yeah, that's the one reason i wasn't too keen on the weapon, you couldn't use it at all unless you were above 100%, and then you'd only get the one shot. Not really useful apart from the reaper battle. Bloody powerful though, had some fun overkilling mercs

I was constantly switching, found the collector rifle was a bit disappointing against armour, the IFF missile launcher was quite good, the cryo rifle was a complete let down, grenade launcher was probably my most used one to be honest.

Just got around to finishing my renegade run of the Shadow Broker DLC. It was a very poignant and touching end if you happen to be in a relationship with Liara. I'll be quite sad once Mass Effect 3 comes and goes. The final battle was a lot tougher second time around too.

You have to be over 100% power, and just point and hold. It takes a while to fire, you'll see why when it eventually does :p

I had much amusement with Cain during the Overlord DLC where a large group of nasties use a lift to come down to attack you. I timed the shot perfectly. The lift door opens. BOOOOM!!!! Very satisfying. :D

Ok just this minute finished ME1 and now im ready to move onto ME2. The thing is i could start playing it now. Or should i wait till next week (payday) and get all the DLC and then playthrough it. Is the DLC good or are they just rubbish?

Enjoyed it plenty without any of the DLC. Most of the DLC doesn't look like it adds much tbh.

If its the weapon i'm thinking of then frankly it makes no difference. The special weapons as a whole are a waste of space, none of them really does anything (for the cost of heavy weapons ammo) thats worth using them for over regular guns and skills.

Cain is the only useful 1. It does something thats damn well worth firing it for and is a god send for certain (unbalanced) boss fights on Insanity.

Just got to the bit when the omega 4 relay is active - can I still carry on with outstanding missions until they are all complete before going through?

Uh-oh... be mindful of what is going to happen next. I don't want to spoil it for you. :D But my advice is to get through that relay as soon as you are able but only if you've made your ship research upgrades (shield/weapons/armour).
