*** Official Mass Effect 2 Thread ***

Can anyone help me. I've played and completed mass effect on xbox (all achievements and lvl 60) when it first came out. Since then i've stopped playing my 360 (gave it to my brother), and have lost my save. I did however buy the pc version not too long ago and played and completed it but did not play it over and over again to get level 60 and all the achievements as i did with the 360. So is there any way i can turn my level 50 save into a level 60 save but without playing the game again (as i cannot be bothered to do all the missions again).

You can use the console to add enough xp to take you to level 60. You can also add whatever achievements you need. How this will effect the save when using it in ME2 though, I have no idea.

Anyone played the original Mass effect on both PC and xbox?
Apart from graphics and load times was there any major difference in gameplay like they had in dragon age for example.

I'll most likely get ME2 on Xbox as thats where my save game is and I do ever so slightly prefer couch gaming, but if its far far superior on PC I may get it on that.

The biggest difference in gameplay was the fact you could individually manage your squad on the PC, whereas you could only issue orders to your entire squad on the 360. This meant the AI was far more prone to wasting skills during battle whereas on the PC you could tell them exactly where and when to use them more effectively.

I know you've already hinted at it, but it's hard to not mention the fact that the 360 had almost criminal amounts of slowdown at times whereas the PC ran relatively well on even modest hardware.

If you haven't unlocked the level 50 'barrier' on your character and try and give yourself more XP, your level won't go beyond 50. You'd have to start the game again with the same character, boost your XP to 60 and complete it in order for it to be a level 60 character in time for ME2.

Good point, well presented :)

I'd forgotten that you need to start again to go beyond 50.

Plus you could hot key 8 biotic powers so rather than having to pause the game and select targets and powers from the ring on the 360, on the PC you could simply aim and press a key in realtime. Much more fluid combat.

Where has everyone ordered this from, I'm trying to decided where to put my pre-order...

Yeah don't fancy the Steam version, would like to be able to sell it on once i'm done with it, and don't really fancy downloading a squillion GB on release day either. :)

I paid a little extra for the simplicity of Steam. In the case of this title it would seem that the price is pretty consistent across the interweb.

I think the Digital Download/Standard versions are the best.

Not 100% sure, but i belive for the digital & dvd editions. The comic/art book is a pdf, the soundtrack is samples and the documentary files (which i was really really looking forward too with the numerous voice actors) are about 30minutes. Which will undoubtedly be on you-tube at some point anyways :(

The only thing im liking so far is the collectors armor but im sure there will be lots of armor to chose from in the game tbh.

Oh and eveyone gets the DLC member card (Cerberus Network)with any purchase of ME2

You can change that setting on 360 so that only you can decide which abilities the AI players use. I think the default is automatically use defensive abilities. One thing you can't do on 360 is tell individual AI players where to move too, but can you do that on PC?

Yep seems to be £26.99 for the standard version, and same paying a few pounds more for the steam version just so i can download it whenever, autopatch etc

Xbox version it is then.
40 hurs of Dragon age is enough micromanaging for me for a while. It was fun, but a bit OTT in the options and tactics department.

but this Cerberus network and free dlc with new copies etc might help i suppose

If only. You'll be able to get all the dlc, all the preorder items and all the stuff in the CE via a torrent. It happened with DA:O, at least.

About where to preorder. It depends on if if you want armour with +charm/intimidate(amazon) or +ammo and runspeed(play). They are both the same price, and I see absolutely no reason for someone in the UK to bother with the CE.

I hope Bioware get a handle on this at some point, idiots like me will pay well over the odds for a shiny metal box.

I'm not really worried about not having a completed game save for ME1, as I understand that there's some big differences if you do and don't - gives me some more replayability the second time around as I can play ME1 then straight back onto ME2 :)

Amazon good at getting pre-orders to you on time?

I've pre-ordered from play before and not had the game turn up for days after. :(

*sigh* i wish they'd give it a rest with the different preorder items depending on where you order from, its just stupid.

Not to mention when they did it with Dragon Age: Origins, i simply downloaded all the ones i didn't get. That is, the CE items that should've come with the DDE and the other preorder items. No doubt you could probably do exactly the same with this game to get all the different armours.

Whats missing from the UK CE? Since people are saying not to bother with it i assume we've been screwed over just like we were with DA:O.

Resale value might be low, as with DA:O half of the content is accessible via license keys, so second-hand copies will be missing content.
