*** Official Mass Effect 2 Thread ***

Just finished the game now tonight and I must say I really enjoyed it even if I felt the game as a whole was quite a step backward from Mass Effect. While the missions planet side were better than the carbon copy hideouts on the numerous planets in ME1 the surveying of planets was a right pain in the rear end (particularly if you decided to probe Uranus :D ). The story wasn't as good as the first game either but that's probably more due to the fact that it's the middle story of a trilogy and therefore had to get everything set up for the final game.

The ending was very poor though, first off it took only a short amount of time to breeze through this gigantic space station where presumably millions of the collectors lived (Can't even remember seeing a single praetorian on the station and they certainly would have made the final missions a bit more challenging). Finally, there was another terminator at the end in what was possibly the most anti-climatic boss fight in recent times :(

The characters though were brilliant and some of the locations, such as Omega colony were impressive and they really made the game shine.

Kasumi DLC released - available for 560 BW points.
Might be worth it.

I didn't really think it was worth it to be honest, doesn't add much to the game at all bar yet another character to choose from even though there's quite a few already. Bear in mind that I would have had her from the start so would have got the most use out of her.

I'm still slowly making my way through this, but just wanted to say that I have taken a real shining to Mordin and his story-line (did his loyalty mission last night). I love the story-telling/characterization in ME2! :D

Did you get him to sing for you :D

I liked a number of apects of the first game but in the end put it to one side since I didn't like the combat. Is the second game much like the first? Can't decide whether to take a gamble and order it.

Bump, didn't wanna make a new thread.

Are there any newer, better versions of Gibbed's Save Editor? I've got "rev25", but that's the first version I think, as it came out in early February.

May I get some insight on how far along I am...

I have currently racked up 21 hours. I am LOVING this game, easily best RPG I have played on the 360. Reminds me of KOTOR 1 a lot.

Anyway's, I am still going through all the loyalty missions, got a few left still, I have got all but 1 team member, the last one is the one Legion which I was told I get him on the IFF mission.

The IFF mission is my next in line regarding the main story line.

Now, I really want to finish all the loyalty missions the best I can and also all the side quests. How much longer in the main story line have I got? Really don't want to miss anything.

It is very very short once you have all of your team members and have done the loyalty missions. I think it took me about 2 hours max.

Ah, so most of it is based on the team members then?

Second Q, what happens at the end, will I be able to carry on playing or not?

Yes or No please, no spoilers lol.

Once you hit the IFF mission, the rollercoaster to the endgame won't stop. Therefore only go for it once you're satisfied that you're ready.

And yes, you can continue the game after the end credits roll.

P.S. I had over 40 hours on the clock on a 'complete' playthrough, I suspect you've missed a lot of the option side missions.

If your team aren't all loyal, people can die in the last mission. Get them all chummed up. I lost one :/

And as the others said once you go through the IFF that's the last bit, can't turn back.

Pretty sure it depends on your choices their too, i had a good half of my team die, if not all lol. And most of them were loyal.

I still need to finish my second play through, i'm not playing me3 till im satisfied with my ending :(

Well, I got the Reaper IFF and the last team member... Did not expect a Geth lol.

Anyway, I am still in control with my story, so will be doing all side quests.

Miranda is the one who isn't loyal to me, driving me nuts, her and jack had an argument over where jack came from, when I split them up, i took jacks side which has caused miranda not to talk to me ever since... It's stupid, theres a renegade and paragon option, but i dont have enough of eaither to select the options.

As for that, everyone on my team apart from the new dude is loyal. Oh, at 24 hours playthrough time now...

You need to make sure the ship is fully upgraded as well or people can be killed on the final approach to the collector ship.

I have done loads to the ship, not sure if there is more or not, but will do.

Last 2 upgrades I did were for scanner and pod upgrade. Got a fuel option right now. Have done armour, battery guns ect ect.

Cheers.

Oh, and so how does the second play through work? What happens? Do I lose all my skills? Do I have to start every single mission over again?

Er, minor spoiler but you need to heed this. Now you have the IFF you have maybe a couple of planet-side escapades before EDI is ready to test the IFF. You can carry on doing side quests after this, but if you do before heading through the Omega 4 Relay BAD THINGS will happen.

The 'optimal' route is to do everything you want to before hitting the Reaper mission, then immediately do Legion's loyalty quest.

Not sure I follow you chap, so when she is ready to test the IFF, I HAVE to carry on with the story? Or can I not just ignore it and carry on doing missions until I am ready... Or are you saying the last option will have bad joojoo following lol.

ags

Yeah, the last option leads to a pretty nasty cut-scene and bad consequences. You might want to do it though just to see it. You can still finish the game if you do.

Edit: it's hard to explain without spoiling the game but you'll get me once EDI tests the IFF.

Roj, well I would play some now... But I know I would get sucked in yet again. And I am heading round to the misses parents for dinner in a few hours so must not be distracted!

Anyway, could you also how the end game re play through works. So confused by it lol.
