** Official Mayhems Development Log **

Because it's a pastel color it will take a lot. Not sure how much exactly but would require a fair amount. I'll ask Mick. as for the UV dye, all dyes come in UV and non UV versions.

I cannot find a UV red one, but the guide for making UV blood red suggests using UV pink (in concert with Blue and Red regular dyes).

Would this be the right way to go with pastel red? Will I need some regular blue/red as well?

We do not recommend you using Pink unless you really need to. UV pink stains and we warn people about this. UV Red is never red its always pink and if you going for a blood red look then there is no point making it UV active as it will be drowned out by the darker colors.

How are you getting on with the primochill rigid sample mick? I've opted out of using it due to the loop I have planned so if you need any more just say the word :)

It seems to be working fine with no issues. As per the norm though UV pink stains but every thing else seems to be running fine with no issues spotted so far.

Hi,

I'm looking to make some fluid in a candy pink type colour. I don't need uv reactive fluid though. Would i just get white fluid and mix with a bit of red dye?

EDIT: Ignore, just found the perfect pink fluid :)

Can mayhams pastel be reused?

Ive had my loop running about a year but want to make some adjustments to it, shortening tubing adding in a couple of temp probes and will probably give it a bit of a flush while I do it, however the coolant is under a year old and is marketed and being good for 3 years if I drain it into a clean jug can it be used in the same loop gain? I know its only 15 quid a bottle but it seems a shame to waste it

stuie : Pastel can be reused, run it though a Coffee filter to remove any crap and then re use it :). it has a life span max of 3 years if looked after (2 years if abused).

NoNameNoNumber : H20 need a Biocide such as a kill coil. How ever if you have your PC in direct Sun light id suggest using Biocide extreme instead.

Slightly obscure question coming up, is there any problem of storing pastel liquid in a closed res? I have an idea but would require a closed res to be filled with pastel fluid but not actually used in the w/c loop. So wondering whether the life span would be different to that as stated above or would there be any other problems such as settling?

Greboth personally i wouldn't store it in a res i would put it back in the bottle it came in. I cannot comment on storing it in a res as that bring in way to many variables.

Devious ST - Depending on the fluid

XT-1 Down the drain / Out side
X1 - Down the drain / Out side
Pastel either take it to your local dump and get rid the same you would oil or you can send it back to us and we will dispose of it when we have our other waste picked up.
Aurora - Down the drain / Out side

Maybe I chose the wrong wording as storing isn't quite correct. Basically I had an idea for a custom res but for the design to work it would require some pastel coolant to be used for aesthics and not in the actual loop.

I only got as far as it would be cool if.... but haven't actually worked out if it is even possible to build the res. If I can work out how to build the res I think I will have to just try it and see.

I appreciate why you can't answer but thanks for replying :)

There's a chance it would separate. the Pastel I have in my loop used to separate in the res overnight, however it doesn't seem to do it anymore (not sure why though...) I asked here when I first noticed it, but was told it was normal.

Yes that can be poured down the drain with no issues what so ever.

Pastel does separate out over time when first used (over a few days) how ever the more you use it the better it becomes its part of the nature of the nano fluid. Dont worry though as soon as you turn you pump on it remixes back in.

It must just be the age that's fixed it then, although the positioning of my PC means it's harder to see than it was when I noticed it before!

This reminds me, I really need to get round to draining, rinsing & replacing the fluid in my loop, it's been about 22 months since I put this stuff in...

You say Mayhems fluid has a maximum lifespan of 3 years. What is the problem with using it for longer? Is it that it cant transfer the heat as well? That is clogs up blocks etc?

If it is heat related have you tested say... 4 or 5 year old fluid against new fluid?

I only ask as I know someone who bought a pre-built watercooled PC with blue fluid about 6 years ago and it still has the same fluid in it. His temperatures don't seem that bad to be honest. I did clean his blocks for him a year or so ago as they were a bit gunged up however. I didn't know how old the fluid was at the time otherwise I would have recommended that he replaces it at the same time.

Yeah I wouldn't use pastel just for aesthetics. If my machine is off for 24 hours I can see it start to separate, just a mm orso on top goes a darker blue.

How come pastel cannot be poured down the drain? Thought that Aurora would be more dangerous for some reason.
