Really wondering what you'll need to do to run this in VR. 3090 and medium settings? I think you'd end up CPU limited before you hit VR framerates too.

On a totally separate note, I think I really want to give vatsim a go. I think I've got the hang of how ATC works now so think I could manage without making a fool of myself

Has anyone figured out taxiing? I had to turn on the cheat line to help me find my way because I can't read the little signs to follow the route

Paid DLC? They can **** right off! Helos should be in the game as standard.

Entitled much? There were no helicopters in FS until 98 and FSX had less aircraft than FS2004 until the Acceleration expansion IIRC.

In other news - I think you guys were right, you really do need 32GB of RAM for this. It appears to have solved my crashes... haven't tried a full proper flight yet but no issues over the past couple of hours flying about, changing locations, planes, etc. Much quicker loading times too off my SSD.

Perhaps you can get away with 16GB with lower settings.

That’s interesting about the RAM. I have 16GB and use the high preset with environment quality bumped up to 130. It uses 11-12GB. I’m wondering what I’d gain by going to 32GB?

Not sure - mine was only ever using around 9-12GB too but checking Event Viewer after every crash (typically around 20-30 mins into flying) would show a faulting module error in Application logs and a virtual memory error in System logs. Manually adjusting the pagefile didn't solve this, but adding more memory seems to have done.

A rumour on Steam implies the first patch is likely to be a whopping 80Gb. Sounds like they are virtually reissuing the whole game, if true!

I'm using 32GB @ 3000MHz and it doesn't seem to touch any more than 12gb on high/ultra settings

In the vids I have seen the ATC voices are always American even in British airports? Is this a setting? It would bug me a lot as I'd stick to UK airspace most of the time.
Yeah this annoys me too, and it doesn't just seem to be American, but the same one American voice for all controllers etc.
It's true. They haven't got any delta updates sorted. It was the same during the alpha.
Yikes, it had better be worth it and fix a lot. I'm not going to be in any hurry to download the full sim every time it wants updating...

From what I've heard on the grapevine, the sim is an absolute mess behind the scenes. Rushed out before Asobo were ready, MS forcing them to gimp core access to make sure it has feature and add-on parity across both the PC and XBOX versions. If anyone in this thread is of the ilk that uses PMDG or FSL-level add-ons, you're in for a long ******* wait.

EDIT: As for the British voices, good luck. Sim doesn't even support metric units (litres or kg for fuel, hPa for altimeter/QNH settings), doesn't support supersonic flight etc. It's a mess.

Yeah it is. Even in it's broken mess it's still ground breaking. It kind of reminds me of my model 3. So tech and many groundbreaking features, but so many quality issues almost spoiling it.
