**** Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Thread ****

Just realised something, although I told it to install to my E drive it was installing the massive update of 118gb that it does on first install to my c drive in the user folder so had a bit of mix and match, i've now told it to put the 118gb worth of files in the same folder on E so maybe that will fix it?

Well i've no idea how but its now working....... I signed up for msfs forums was typing my first post, thought id try and launch the game one more time to record what was happening so I could describe it better to begin with I just got a message game cannot be lauched, i was like wth thats less than before tried from xbox app and the same, tried via ms store and it got to a point saying checking for updates which id gone through time and time again and it then just all of a sudden launched and has since been playing fine absolutely no idea what the changes have been but glad its working :)

I've bought it, certainly fills the airports and traffic local to airports is busy.
Doesn't seem to affect frame rate either.
Jury still out on enroute traffic, I've set msfs to live traffic as well.
By default it doesn't use live traffic at all but uses flights from a week in June 22 I think.

Tbh the aircraft models and liveries are very good though.

Thinking of buying MSFS and will be playing it in VR using a quest 2. I have a 3070 GPU, do you think that will be sufficient?

Question 2 is do you get enough with the base game (£60) i.e do you get some UK airports, some commercial jet airliners to fly all with working buttons etc controllable with VR? Is it a full virtual cockpit?

And third question I don't have a HOTAS yet, is it controllable with a game pad? I do have a racing steering wheel, perhaps that could be used as a yoke?

I've run FS in VR with a 3070 and it's ok - but you'll have to dial the settings back a bit. The 3070's good for (non-VR) 1440p mostly maxed at between 40-60fps.

You get Heathrow with the Premium Deluxe edition but the World Updates are free irrespective of which version you have and there's a UK specific one that I believe has additional UK airports. The Airbus is included with the standard version (Premium Deluxe has the 787-10).

Yes - you can play it with a gamepad - it's very customizable. Dunno if it'd support a steering wheel though.

Yeah I think a steering wheel wouldn't work - it didn't occur to me at first but there would be no pitch control.

The Heathrow version is over £100. When it says you get X airport etc, if you don't have that airport does it mean you can't fly to it at all or is it there but in a more basic form?

Is Birmingham airport on it?
