*****OFFICIAL OcUK/JW IP35 Pro THREAD*****

Off Topic: That building looks as bad as the one they've just built in Plymouth :(

Lets get these bios's tested and see if it sorts your guys O/C'ing problems out.

actually what did you want? what did you expect? AHCI? yes, we listened to your voice and the taken action immediately,
new v1.3 bios is now out with this option, have you give it a try??

We do care customers feeling, this is what I want you to know.

My OcUK P35 is the last board I'll ever buy on the first day of sale. How on earth the manufacturers and retailers continually get away with getting us to pay through the nose to beta-test their new stuff is quite beyond me.

Ok some strange problems clocking with this new BIOS.

I try the exact same settings as I used previously, and when I load cpu-z, the multiplier keeps changing between 6 and 9. Also, the BIOS keeps defaulting to 6 on stock settings :s

had the same problem u do it by disabling the c14 option or something in the cpu submenu in the frequency control bit.

Also kinda stuck at 350mhz fsb, tried upping voltage to chipset, cpu, fsb and ram, doesnt help. Got some giel value pc2-6400 and an e2140. Did try the cpu at 1.45v but made no difference

So how does this board compare against the Abit IP35? Number of SATA ports? Fit with E8400 .

I don't know about the E8400, as I don't have one yet, but on paper it's extremely strong against the Abit IP35. In practice though, it's not really cutting the mustard across all the Intel CPUs like most P35 boards do. It overclocked very well with an E6750, but I can't get more than 3.4GHz stable out of a Q6600 that I know is good for 3.8GHz stable/4GHz SuperPi stable in a Gigabyte P35-DS4, and it's overclocking performance with E21x0 CPU's is also very patchy.

Unfortunately I think they've sold about 5 to a fairly varied group and the findings have been a bit sparse and/or not resoundingly positive. I can't help but think that if OcUK were serious about these boards they would have given out a few to hardcore overclockers and published the results. Or even got their own people in-house to put up some strong overclocks. The fact that they don't appear to have doen either of these would suggest to me that they either can't be bothered, or they've tried and the results weren't publishable if you get my drift.

I'd get the Abit at the moment, but the J&W staff are very responsive and a new BIOS has just been released. I'm not in the UK at the moment, but I'll be back early tomorow morning at which time I will try the new BIOS and post my results.

Glad someone around here is making a concious effort to test the rigers of this board, the one i purchased is a bit inaccessible as its been lump'd in a friends machine.
I havnt got the time for it ill stick to my GA-G33M it clocks better for me atleast and i never thought id hear myself say that in public ill just have to hang on for my sugo SG03 so it doesnt look as lost in a full ATX case :D

I do not doubt that you care, you are highly responsive to suggestions, however the fact remains that the release BIOS (v1.2) contained several bugs and reacted to changes in non-linear ways. Your company is not alone in this - Abit, Gigabyte and ASUS have all released boards with BIOS's that were defective in the recent past, and the point I was making was simply that I would no longer be the first in the queue to buy a board simply because I have bought several now that are not really ready for sale, and they don't work properly until the manufacturer has upgraded the BIOS a couple of times. It wasn't aimed at you, more at all manufacturers.

I've been working in Thailand for the last week, so I haven't been near the board to try the V1.3 BIOS but I will be home early tomorrow and I will certainly test it out for AHCI under VISTA and any improvements in overclockability.

new bios seems a bit wrong when it comes to cpu voltage max i can now get with the 1.58v setting is 1.48v, and two steps up from default gives 1.40v. Thats never right.

Also what does the cpu n\2 ratio bios option do? Edit:- worked this one out think its a spelling mistake in the bios, should read cpu 1/2 ratio. it enables the 9.5 multi for the new wolfdales.

Edit:- its not the new bios it something to do with me swapping out my e6850 for a e8500 why does that completly screw up the vcore bios option? I have tried both the 1.2 &1.3 bios and neither seems to work correctly with my new proccessor, oh the 1.2 has another issue and does not do the 9.5 multi?
loosing my rag with this board its about to go out of my window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
