Event ideas

Ideas so far are:

PVP tournaments - Alex, you seemed to be happy to organise something regarding this? We have a PVP arena!

Some kind of horse racing/parkour circuit

Build comps, although not quite sure how they would work.

Treasure hunts - two options with this. Either single chests are placed in various places throughout the overworld with coords to the next one in each chest. This would be quite a long event, spanning several hours or maybe even days, or
An area cordoned off and loads of chests with the same loot in and all players have a set time to find as many chests and loot as possible - this would be quite a short timed event

Please feel free to comment on the above ideas or please add your own event ideas - cheers - ham :)
 
some suggestions
mini sky blox area maybe? and or limited resource areas

PVE events perhaps like epic boses battles?
i.e. something like the ender dragon or wave of mobs, something like dungeons and dragons style

long duration night cycle? more nastys spawning constantly.

presumably no quantum computer to alterantive servers or other dimensions?

King of the hill / Rush to the top ?

underground maze? lots of build potential for that and may be could be automated with a script? to change every so often?

Guys my mate has just given me his copy of Minecraft and i've got a question about Java.

basically is there any download of it where I can just drop it into a folder on my PC. I feel like i'm voluntarily giving my computer a cocktail of AIDS + cancer when I install Java so is there any way to play the retail version with the least of it possible?

afraid you have to install Java. it is the base component of MC
sorry but no other way of doing it.

basicaly you start on a small island with 1 tree and a chest with some basic starting items.

you work to expand your land using your knowledgs of minecraft to survice and create farms for food and mob griders for loots

this is the description from google

Skyblock is a type of survival that is challenge orientated. You spawn on an island in the sky with limited (but enough) resources and must expand your island to become an empire. The original idea has been around for a while now, and can be played in single player mode by downloading a map, or on multiplayer servers.

I've had mixed results using the java portable apps launcher and portable java.
might be worth looking at.
 
Due to the current security issue over bash I've had to install a few updates to the dedi that the Minecraft servers run on. Hopefully it won't have caused the servers to die but it's possible. I've let yrthilian know about this so he can check on things when he gets a chance.
 
Sorry, I should've updated this. The server required more work to secure than I expected so it had to be restarted at one point. This will have killed all the MC servers. I can't see 5punk online and I've already made yrth aware of the situation so unfortunately it's a case of waiting until one of them is available.
