**** Official OnePlus 8/OnePlus 8 Pro Thread ****

Exynos itself isn't the issue, it's the Mongoose cores Samsung has been using which we've been finding to be lacking compared to ARM's cores so since Samsung has closed its custom core division, Exynos will still remain but they will license in ARM cores from now on and in effect Exynos will almost certainly be better than Qualcomm because of the better efficiency now that they will be using ARM cores. 2021 will be the turning point I'd say.

S10e SD855 to OP8 Pro for me though? Both 8 models are bigger than the S10e. I won't be able to use my wireless charging bay in my car centre console any more either without heavy modification to somehow get the width in of a phone wider than 70mm or I just switch to wired charging and tuck the phone in by the side of the handbrake gaiter like I used to with the S8+ which is less elegant but does the job I guess.

I like the 8 Pro's 4k60fps cine mode feature too. I want to see how the camera compares to Samsung for video as well. I think I could definitely get on well with the 8 Pro though but it would be a re-adjustment to get used to a big phone.

None of those are showstoppers though, the thing that is... only 256GB storage :(

I need 512GB as an option if there's no SD card slot.

Likely a £1000 price tag though :o

There's no rush, so I will wait and see what happens. Until then the S10e will have to continue being the best flagship I have ever bought under £800.

There may or may not be a mclaren edition of the phone in future, which may or may not have a greater amount of storage.
If it's like last year then the McLaren Edition will be for the 8T Pro with the same specs as the current top of the line 8 Pro. 12GB RAM, 256GB storage.

Where can we order the blue one?! I don't fancy a shiny black one, or a sea green one.
I was going to post pretty much that. Well to ask if anyone knew why the black is only available in the 8/128GB variant when I'd like it in the 12/256GB variant. But having seen the photos and the blue phone in a few video reviews that is looking seriously gorgeous.

I reckon it's because we're still in the pre-order with the chance to win stuff phase. I think normal pre-orders start tomorrow from something I saw somewhere earlier. Normally I would get a black case, or a non-see through case, to protect the phone but I'm tempted to get a clear case for the OP 8 Pro in blue.

The Verge are reporting that battery life isn't all that great, not unless you turn off the 120hz refresh rate.

I really hope manufacturers stop chasing pointless numbers and start focusing on a good overall balance. I think 90hz is a nice sweet spot for smoothness vs battery usage, whilst I've not used a 120hz phone display, there's reviewers saying the step for 60 to 90 is more noticeable than 90 to 120.

Wonder if OnePlus can or will release a software update that enables a 90hz option?

Have not been too impressed with the reviews of the camera for videos. Will definitely wait for the sony z1 ii to be reviewed soon to determine what i buy. Although i have a Panasonic G9 camera for the times I go out to shot videos or pictures i still want something decent on my phone for the times I don't plan to.

I think that's the way it's going to go now with phones. You decide on the most important features to you then buy the phone that does that the best. There doesn't appear to be a one size fits all option, it would be very expensive if it existed I imagine!

Sounds perfectly believable :p
I agree with your scepticism haha.
It's a positive sign and I have good faith in Dave. However, one can only be sure when once we've put it through your own paces.

Though I was pouring over many reviews of the Oppo X2 Pro which is basically the same phone with a smaller battery and they were surprised with its stamina @ full tilt.

Are oneplus phones normally available on o2?
Don't think so, usually Three are the only ones to stock them I think. From what someone said earlier in the thread though it looks like they may become a bit more widespread this time around.

Well having slept on it, currently not sure.

I've got a week to decide as it isn't available to order on JL until then. They only have the horrid green (don't kid yourselves, it really is an AWFUL colour) and the shiny black - where is the blue!?

So now, i'll be waiting to see if the blue becomes available to order. Now, during that time if more info about the Pixel 4a comes out that may make me look at the mid range, the 7T Pro could come on offer at a too good to refuse price, the blue colour may not become available to order.

If OP had what I wanted available to order yesterday they would have had my money. I should thank them for making it so difficult.
