lol, your worse than me! soon we will be checking the weather forecast.
hummm, it looks like 2.8ghz weather today and tomorrow looks good for 2.9gh  :D

Its so true! I'll be buying air-con for my room / PC case. Thats would be the ultimate in "taking it too far".

You can laugh I've bought an air conditioner for that very purpose although I was going to strip it down and make a chiller for my water cooling but we have air conditioning for the upstairs of our house and I'd be in trouble with the wife if I mutilate a air conditioner then ours failed she thinks it was bought as a back up :D

Just been priming my ccbwe 0550 upmw at 1.4v 2.85GHz 285X10 it's been going for 16HR's 16 Mins up to yet. I'm using the SP2004 by Johnny Lee on the small FFT's hope that's the right one and I did Memtest on the G Skill yesterday for 8 HR's so it's looking stable :)

Or you could just go to uni in scotland - my room temp barely goes above 15 in winter and 18 at moment. Just wear more clothes and prob solved - or get a landlord to put in a boiler that works - thank **** for electric showers

I know about it mother and father in law live near Doun Reay bloody cold.

Here's my 1st decent prime session considering it's about the hottest day of the year I'm quite happy but I think there might be more left, just takes so long it's a bit boring waiting.

what water setup are u on?

I have a thermochill 120.3 rad with a Storm CPU block, a Maze 4 on my X1900XTX and a custom made water block on the chipset I must say it does seem to work very well.

The rad is mounted outside the case actually under the desk so the tubes from the pump and rad are nearly 2 1/2 feet long on the feed and return that way I can't hear the fans :D

Ok guys.

I've been doing a bit of experimenting with getting 2.8ghz stable with the lowest voltage going. I got it at 1.35v.

So a slight bump to 2.83ghz. I've needed to go up by a further .06v to get it there. Temps have gone from 42C load at 2.8ghz to 46C load. Is this normal?

Also, with 1.41v it failed prime after about 4.5hours. Looks like water cooling is going to have to happen to get this bad boy rocking.

Which pump?

Sadly not by the looks of things.

I haven't really been playing much more with my 170 simply 'cos I need better cooling.

I was going to get some water cooling from Welsh Tom but I need to save the cash.

I'm wanting house et kit car.

Are you not trying to up your 170 Scoobie?

I have been running @ 2.6GHz for months (quad-prime 24 hours stable) but since about two weeks ago this has become unstable (fails large FFTs in about 20secs). Not sure why but I imagine the warmer weather plays a part.

Started testing again, currently at 2300MHz using stock vCore (1.35v) 24 hours stable.

I took the lid off my 170 a couple of days ago and was absolutely crapping myself.
Prior to popping the lid couldn't get it stable above 2.8 even though it did that on stock volts (should say 1.35v in sig) with an arctic cooling freezer pro. Tried gradually upping the voltage but figured temps were the limiting factor. Switched to H20 and no change.
I would run prime at 2.9 bumping the voltage higher and higher (up to 1.575v) temps approaching 60C   Tried reseating the swiftech apogee but still no change.
De lidded after days of deliberating (its a 550vpmw so was easily re-sellable on the bay) voiding the warranty and losing the resailability was a VERY tough decision especially as i haven't done it before.
anyhow took a while but did it and temps have dropped to 45c max load running 2 instances of prime (well sp2004) with 1.575v. It will run at 3.1Ghz but fails prime after 1min on core 0. tempted to up the volts a bit more but will see. Prime stable at 3.0 at 1.575 at the mo. :D
For me de-lidding the cpu made a big difference. I think it was due to the poor contact under the IHS.

Me to, I keep eyeing up watercooling setups and every time I read a post like delbuenno Im like damn I must throw caution to the wind and remove the ihs. I got a new 600watts psu to install, and have been spendin all my time puttin together a htpc with my 146 undervolted runnin mce.
Agent, the house can wait but the kit car cant, go for it!

One thing i didn't tell you...
My apogee block ended up with one edge resting against the plastic on the edge of the mobo's cpu block due to the drop in height. So i took my dremel sanding disc to it (whilst it was still attached to the mobo). All was going well (even though i prolly voided the mobo's warranty by doing so) then OMFG!!!!  the dremel jumped and hit the mobo with a bang, sanding one of the circuits!
My heart sank but so far it is still working.
Stupid yes, but hey, we learn from our mistakes! :o
