*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

You need to play more infiltrator then Mr Warrior, a decent infil can prepare a base for assault in no time making the assault a matter of fact. Of course that will not do any good to the infil or the attacking forces K/D, but it can drastically move a force forward to the continent lock before the defenders know whats hit them.

An Infiltrator hacking some base turrets is a luxury and nothing more.

Is Ironwarrior for real? lol

Complaining about people getting rewarded for kills he's trying to cheat from them by logging out?

Beyond a joke that he can complain about it, assuming he does it himself, which seems highly likely given his posts.

It's a lame tactic for lame players with over inflated opinions of their skill. Good players don't need to log out to buff their K\D unfairly.

Infs can totally lock a base down and prevent everything except for spawning leaving the defenders no vehicles, no weapon stations (= no Max), no refill of nades/mines, no turrets, no aircraft. A forward team of spec op infils can totally cripple a base defense. They can turn the vehicle spawn to their own teams without a base cap - thats some pretty awesome tactics right there. Inf goes in hacks the vehcile spawns, attack team comes up behind and pops tanks - game over.

Its not all about kills y'know, I think you are being a bit narrow minded and might actually like the game even more if you got over your K/D obsession.

Since all bases have spawn rooms, infantry have no problem refilling themselves with new grenades, mines, heals or changing class and even pulling a max unit.

Base turrets are a luxury and it doesn't matter what side they are on, they are often quickly destroyed.

Aside from the fact that terminals are often hacked back to their owners faction or destroyed preventing them being hacked by the enemy team.

There are only three things in this game that are essential to winning and these are numbers, spawns and holding the point. Everything else isn't a requirement but they may add to the win.

I'm not saying hacking the base so everything belongs to the X or Y faction isn't good for that team, but whether they are or not doesn't change the first three essential requirements to win the battle.

The only time when this matters is in very small battles between a few players though that's getting less of a issue since the lattice zerg system forces everyone to fight in pretty large battles.

When it comes to liking the game.

I'm a 6 month subscriber on auto-renew. I have spent more money on Station Cash then I have spent on games in the last 5 years and that am about 500k from hitting Field Marshal.

I'm also pretty ashamed of my total hours per week for this game. I think I like this game a lot, likely a lot more then everyone else here. :)

Seriously considering cancelling my auto-renew before August. They've completely changed Esamir from being a great vehicular combat cont to now being completely infantry focused. Everything seems so cluttered, you can't drive from one base to another without hitting about 3 bases in between surrounded by, and connected by more and more walls.

I've now resorted to playing on Amerish, but I have a feeling they'll completely ruin that once the lattice comes into play too. It wouldn't be so bad if they just linked up the existing bases, but they feel as if they have to fix something which isn't broken in the first place!

Yeah, don't like the Esamir changes at all, it used to be great for tank duels. You've actually reminded me about the auto renew, must turn it off, ta :)

Btw once you cancel you stop getting the 500sc every month. I paid for 6 month and cancelled auto renew straight away and I only got my first 500sc. I emailed support and apparently you need to keep auto renew active to keep receiving your monthly 500sc, absolute ********.

I agree with this. There are too many bases now on Esamir and they are too close together. Even if you ignore the lattice, the terrain forces your path a lot of the time. Theres no point pulling a vehcile if your one choice is a road, directly past the parked HA sunder team and into a line of enemy MBTs.

Vehicle users are being forced to play infantry in order to see some action. But infantry users are not being forced the other way. With a combination of a short run, a redploy, squad spawn or instant action they can avoid the outsides of bases if they wish.

I think when they add the catwalks and cranulations to the walls it will just become taxi side. I find Amerish to be even worse to get around though though.

I like infantry fights, but its a bit of a joke when its quicker and esier to run out of a base across the snow(and complain your being run over) than it is to pull a vehcile and then spent time driving round the walls to pick up your gunner.

The new link they added in the last patch from Auroa to Rime has created a nice vehicle area. That includes Apex and Saero and promotes the Haven->auroa veh movement even without a link. It is still full of the new scenery items that are great for the camping heavies and engies though, and loads of the new place where you can park a sundy and be protected on 3 sides.

My crews are also getting bored of shooting empty vehicles in "taxiside". Weve never farmed infantry, and we dont wait for base cap XP we move about finding more vehs to shoot. 3 out of every 5 have just been abandoned close to a base so someone can move in behind the walls and infantry it up.

This is correct. The warning is displayed in big letters when your subscribe and also before you confirm the cancel though.

After a handful of days playing Esamir where before I really hated the new changes and felt it ruined tank warfare, am really starting to enjoy it now and even would say, am enjoying it a lot more then ever.

There is really enough wide open spaces scatted about for good vehicle warfare and since there is so many hills and dips and what nots, it's prefect for me since I play my Prowler like a Tank Destroyer. I find a nice place to deploy and stand pounding the hell out of everything I see until I run out of ammo then move after I killed a few targets or to refill.

Jeagers Crossing and Mami Bio Lab are awesome spots for tanks, there are spots where you can put a vehicle in which gives you a really large area to fire at but limits the enemy view to fire back. On top of that, pretty much all the bases in the game have hills overlooking them so I can still farm infantry like no business, I would dare say, it's even better since the walls trap them in.

My Marauder on my Prowler is fully upgraded now to 15 shots which really helps. Totally loving it. :)

I still need a other 500k XP to level up which is like BR1 to BR27. lol

I much preferred Esamir before. The hex system was also far better. They should have worked on that rather than implementing lattice wholesale.

Still playing because I love the game and there's nothing like it out there.

I seem to be getting very few certs ? Whats the best way to obtain them ? I've only just started getting in to it, is there a video explaining how the weapon system works and a video explaining certs ?

Thanks

Yes, there are videos that explain these things. All on youtube.

You earn certs by earning xp by doing pretty much anything and everything in the game.

Kill a player, damage a player then a player killing him, damaging aircraft, killing aircraft, killing AA/AV turrets, taking control points, taking bases, defending bases, repairing AA/AV turrets, repairing Max suits, repairing vehicles, defending control points when under attack, overloading gens, stopping a overloading gen, repairing gens, assist xp from within vehicles when the gunners/driver kills a enemy player, healing, reviving, squad heals and reviving just for a start. There is a more, but once you earned like X amount of XP you are given a cert. Certs are like gold, so don't go wasting them on anything and everything.

It's also highly advisable to spend a little money on Station Cash to unlock some weapons to save the certs at the early battle ranks since at higher levels it doesn't matter anymore. If you really want to earn certs fast, then get a 6 month membership and start buying the 50% XP boosters to make 100% XP which can go from 100% to 180% in different hexs and maps. That's a lot of XP. ;)

Looks good, interlink facility looks like a nice base design lots of good rooms and levels for infantry fights. Shame it's only the middle portion of it but at least we get to see something finally.

Hossin is a lag fest, everywhere is just lag. I really hope it's more stable once it's finished. It's the best looking map so far and really designed well and the best thing about it is that the leafs on the trees don't instantly kill you. :)

It was nice seeing players from all factions group up and mix together without shooting each other, there was some real knobs thought like Realrook who was going around as a Stealth shooting players with an SMG and some retards who decided to shoot my Mossy with Carbines. The worst joke was when they sent me PM's saying why I killed them after they was shooting me!
