There are issues with the game and there always will be. The engine/tech/servers cannot cope with the game experience they are trying to provide.

Are there any alternatives. NO.
Its the only combined arms game that operates on such a massive scale (when it works).

Should you play it?

If you haven't tried it and it does appeal then yes. Sooner rather than later. The game needs population in order to work. It will only get smaller from now on. There is likely to be an influx of new and returning players over the holiday period, but overall the month after month trend is reduced pops.

Dont play it to be a solo rambo racking up the kills and aiming for a high K/D. Join a squad/outfit. Set yourselves goals/objectives for your play session and have fun trying to achieve them.
 
Its worth trying since its free but I'd suggest watching a few tutorial vids first to grasp what its about as there's quite a lot to take in for a new player.

Imho PS2 on its day, in a good fight, does 'battlefield' better than any other large scale fps. Including BF4.

Unfortunately, the good fight can be hard to find at times.

I was originally in Kuntras Killas, then Tempest and finally settled in MoX (Werner TR). We did (and still do when we have a reunion :D) spec ops stuff mostly (MoX pretty much invented the gen bust and hold), as well as cont opening / drawing enemies from locked conts.

PS is special because it is one of the few FPS where good tactics and squad play really do outclass individual talent every-time. Due to our play-style MoX don't have all that many CR5's (altho have had some of the best), but can hold a gen with 15 BR10's just as well as 15 random BR25/CR5's.

You have any idea what the other core members like Javesh, Tunguskax , Apone and Coba went playing afterwards ?
