*** Official Planetside 2 Thread ***

As far as I know there will be both, I'm sure a dev said there would be a trickle allowance of XP over time allowing people who don't play much to still be able to gain for certs while not playing, but obviously there will still be XP for levels?/certs by killing, supporting, capturing etc.

Certainly not the way I read it, although this was way back just after announcement but the system I saw described was very much an EVE style system where everything would be unlocked over time with 'training'. I think I'd actually prefer that to the old PS1 ranking system, although they shouldn't be doing CRs through that, they still need to mean something!

Afaik all certifications are open to you, you aren't locked into just one line etc. but the devs said it would take a long long time to earn enough certs to unlock everything, they won't unlock over time automatically, but there has been said that they might allow for certs to be gained while offline for those who can't play 23/7.

So I read that as as you level/gain xp you gain certs which you can spend, if you aren't playing then it slowly accumulates xp towards your next cert.

Or something :)

All please note I have cleansed the thread of obtaining 'free codes' by dishonest means. Please do not discuss these activities on the forums as further discussion of this nature will be dealt with in a more severe fashion - w3bbo

sony will be pushing for coin tho if every body just plays it as is and hardly spends any money on it...

Higby reckons if only 5% of people who have signed up to the beta paid £7 a month they'll make a killing.

XP boosts will be their main earner they reckon - very much like the Global Agenda model.

I will probably be picking up some xp boosts depending on how much it gives, bit definitely picking up some camo patterns some of them look fantastic!

I think I will avoid all XP and gun buying purely from a moral (if I earn it I can have it) attitude but I will buy a bunch of skins.

will there be an OCUK outfit? I'm guessing we'll all have to decide on a faction and judging from the past couple of thread pages that'll be an issue.

Afaik you can't buy guns and I don't think xp boosts are that bad if they are not too extreme. Just think of it this way you are helping to fund the game. Plus I would much rather have micro transactions then a sub fee as it always put me off playing more then one mmo at a time which was a shame as I missed some good games :(

Well I have bought ps1 now let's see how it goes watched a few vids of it, and I can honestly not think how I did not play this first time around.

Guys from here who are in guilds/clans with me know how competitive I am in PvP (little general syndrome:p), in swtor, while the game was going we totaly dominated in ILum world PvP, so this is right up my street.

Anyone still looking for a guild we recruiting, in swtor we had more ocukers than the rest of the guild combined ...... And yes I'm as mean as I sound ::D

See www.mmo-guild.co.uk for info, you can also go to our YouTube channel from there and see some real fun PvP, because what ever else is required to win, fun always comes first ...well unless I die then it's a whine fest as to why I was not better protected :p.

Think PS1 will seem a bit dull starting it now without playing it previously, the game is like 10 years old, so be warned.

The biggest problem would be the lack of people, last time I played there were maybe 100 people a side during EU prime time. Also the fact you have to play on the server which I read has been moved to the west coast so you now have to play with 180+ ping. Oh and don't forget the horrible CN players and their ability to shoot you around three corners. The game was great but playing it in such a dire state just leaves a bad aftertaste :(

Yeah thought that could very well be the case was just curious as to how the game feels, and at less than 7 quid not overly fussed :p

That don't sound so good but will just dip me toe in and have a run around, did not know they had moved the servers, but it does seem from the PS forum that there has being a upswing of players of late, as To the CN players....:p

Cheers for info guys :D

Well that said about a year and a half ago when we got bored of Global Agenda we went back and played Planetside for a bit and took some of the guys we recruited in Global Agenda that hadn't played Planetside or even heard of it before and they loved it despite seeing the game in a shadow of its former self. You should have a blast, there's quite a steep learning curve compared to most games you play these days but it comes with a much better game experience!

Sounds good hopefully game should arrive by tomorrow at the latests :D

I jumped back into PS1 a few weeks back as Sony had given me 45 days of free game time for some reason.... it has to be said, it hasn't aged well.

Ran around for a while, tried to get back to grips with my setup etc and barely saw anyone else. Facility attacks were down to 1/2 people as opposed to hundreds, not the most engaging experience any more unfortunately.

Really looking forward to PS2 though.

Does anyone know if there is a full list of vehicles (and their different armaments) and weapons yet? When I used to play planetside 1, there was quite a lack of indirect fire weapons and it would be great if they have added more in PS2. From what I remember PS1 only had the thumper for trying to bombard an enemy area with fire, but not much in the way of artillery vehicles.

Ahh well if thats the case, its 3 beers extra I could have had :p

Don't the vids show different vehicles .. hope there will be more than one, and some big enough for me to hide in and shout at everyone :p

The EverQuest® II transition process to the ProSiebenSat.1 Games service will begin within the next 30 to 60 days.

just got an email saying that all SOE stuff is being transferred soon, id expect PS2 to come alone in at the end of this time frame as well.

Been watching a few videos of game play - most notably the latest 40s of the infantry assault on a tech lab.. What PC specs are they making these on? Any ideas?

Im seriously starting to doubt that my 6970 will handle this game now in all its explosive glory..

I think 1 artillery gun Aka the Flail was more than enough.... that thing was so awesome ask Jeffbeefjaw lol

Last thing I want is a load of aoe weapon spam, it would ruin the whole experience. The flail at least had to set up and was completely vulnerable when it was firing, and the thumper and grenades were pretty low damage, so that you were generally better off equipping a direct fire weapon, and actually, you know, aiming at people.
