**Official Portal 2 thread**

That's the beauty of it though, the game still stands on it's own, so if you are nonplussed by it all, it won't make any difference.
For those who have been lurking or participating, the story has got a heck of a lot richer! :)

Can some one fill me in as to whats going on etc?

What do we know from these clues etc.. I keep hearing?

I really like games like this. Where you have a game within a game (sinister, yet, your not quite sure)

Well it *is* a bit silly. People twittering about being "infected" and being killed...

It's basically a live-action roleplay event, and, erm, it's a bit beardy weirdy for some of us :p

I mean, I think the whole looking for clues thing is great. But people pretending to be abducted, infected, etc... is a bit crap :p

*shrug* If you don't care about it don't pay any attention to it.

Got my Golden Potato also. Really enjoying the arg aspect.

I am a little bit spent out though been pretty much playing games solid since Monday (well except work, F1, and getting drunk Friday). I feel like i need a week off.... but must play portal 2 when it is out!

I'm with others on this...why exactly are we rebooting GLaDOS? :p

The main reason, I assume, is that people assume its counting down to the release of Portal 2, so everything else be damned, we want to play it now :D

There's a wiki with all the information gathered here:
http://valvearg.com/wiki/Valve_ARG_Wiki

Currently we are playing through the games in the Potato Pack available on steam, in order to reboot Glados, and persumably release Portal 2 early. The current status is here:
http://www.aperturescience.com/glados@home/

Finally, read from the bottom of this page, upwards, to see all the main things that have happened:

Undoubtedly but given the circumstances of the first game...Rebooting GLaDOS may not be the wisest move ever :p

Should that not be:

Yup, Valve screwed the pooch... to use an americanism.
The 'tators earned through the cheat website have been revoked from players profiles, but not from the GLaDOS@Home multiplier.

Damn. :(

Damn? Potato cheaters that used that website deserve no sympathy. They're just cheapening the Golden Potato for all of us that got it properly. :p

Still loling about all the people saying that the whole thing is pathetic.

What's the point in this launch countdown thing? By the looks of it now it's going to be out around 9am Tuesday morning, which is actually later than I expected.

So what has playing these games and getting potatoes achieved? Nothing?

Most games on Steam launch around 17:00/18:00 GMT on their release day (for the UK). So currently, it is going to be earlier!

I caved in and pre-loaded portal 2 and got portal free which is a good result.

I spent hours fri/sat on Killing Floor, but the progress bar wasn't moving much so gave up yesterday.

Tbh guys this was a market gimmick, they were never going to release the game earlier than tuesday, it was to get people to spend more money on potato sack with the assumption that the game would be released early "sunday/monday". It was quite interesting to see the event unfold especially friday evening nearly every killing floor server was full even the bigger ones that had 45-50 players online, it was totally insane. Understandibly people feel dissapointed at the same time it was enjoyable.

why is it always my fault :(

I think it was calculated that the best we could expect was 12 hours and that seems to be about right.

Killing floor is awesome, cant believe i only discovered it and not had time to play it properly at all this weekend. Maybe some proper games tonight.

All that effort and extra money in the pocket of Valve and it MIGHT get released a few hours earlier, when most people are at work? Woopppeeee!
Perhaps I'm not sad enough to get involved in a whole game about a game, I don't know. I could maybe understand it if it was a game heavily dependent on story, but Portal? Its a game where you escape from a room using portals, doesnt even need a story and it would still work!

Anyway, rant over.
