*** Official Prey (2017) Thread ***

I hadn't seen anything about the game until a few days ago. Really looking forward to giving this a go. Arkane are top dogs atm as far as I am concerned.

I have a few weeks off work atm and was thinking of playing Mass Effect Andromeda, but this has jumped it in the queue for me now.

I will find a nice youtuber and watch it all and Bethesda will not see a penny.
You can always be patient and eventually grab it cheap or even free ;)

Can also borrow it from a friend or something. No point missing out on a game you want to play. I usually do this myself. If I do not like a company, I find a way to play the game without them getting my money :p;):D

I want to see more games like this so I am happy to pay. More games like this, less mindless shooting each other games like battlefield and cod. Vote with your wallet :)

I have only done just over an hour on this game but first impression are:

- Graphics seem a bit basic but the game runs nice maxed out.
- Gameplay reminds me allot of Half Life so far.
- Seems very different from the first Prey
- Enjoying it.

picked this up for £33 from greenman gaming, just downloading now. I saw a bit of gameplay footage of it looking similar to HL1 / systemshock/ bioshock so I was immediately sold.

I'm pleased to have seen the potential of this game prior to it's release! It's arguably one of the best in the genre.

I wonder how many people will jump on the bandwagon now that it's being well received? I've noticed that many of the naysayers have fallen suspiciously silent! Many were laying odds on the game being poorly optimized, or actively seeking to discredit it because it's not Prey 2. Where are they now? :p

Installed and working from home today so tempted to fire it up now but I'm going to hold off until the kids are in bed so I can play it in peace... roll on 8 o'clock!

Price up a tiny bit but still best priced on CDkeys at £27.99...

Glad to see good reports for this especially after the state that dishonored 2 was released in..... This is what the PC market needs to see more of on release day

This is a terrible idea. Prey is a gameplay-driven game first and foremost, the emergent gameplay is its greatest asset. Spoiling entire game by watching youtube would do this game terrible disservice.

I agree with you that Zenimax has a nasty management that behaves in a really ugly way, but Arkane are innocent in this, and incredibly talented. So personally I choose to buy and enjoy their games, even with my issues with Zenimax.

+1

I liked old Pray and would love to play new one but will not for a simple reason. Bethesda had file a law suit against No Matter Studios for naming there game Prey for the Gods. Bethesda makes some good game not amazing lets not kidde ourself but the practices the have is worst the Nintendo and I will not be paying them any money.... Link here.

After the lawsuit against Samsung, I hope you've binned that GTX 770.:p

The only grievances I have is the lack of a FOV slider and an option for disabling the crosshair!

They have released some news about that ^^

Prey will support CrossFire and SLI, as well as offer ultra-widescreen support at 21:9 at launch for PC players. Updated drivers will be available from AMD and NVIDIA and we’ll be sharing more on those as they release. FOV can be adjusted via a config file and will be accessible via the Options menu in a coming update. During the final phases of testing, we found some bugs we would like to address before officially supporting it, but we wanted you to be able to play with it now! See below for info.
  • To enable FOV, edit the game.cfg file in notepad. The file is located in the root Prey folder in your Save Games folder (likely c:\users\\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey )
  • Look for cl_hfov = 85.5656
  • 85 is the default horizontal FOV setting, but it can be replaced with values up to 120. (Note – some of the issues we are working on are more noticeable with higher FOV.)
