!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

...i want to replay the level Mutant TV Bash, but i can't. Seems once you complete a mission then thats it.

Also i can't find an in game map ,usually the 'm' button grrrrrr .....

I have not tried it yet, but i thought you could? As after you done it for the first time, the fat guy says "i hope you come back to play again as you make good tv" etc.

I'm not normally a big fan of shotguns in games, but I have to agree, the one in Rage is fantastic.

It's too fantastic to be honest but then again all of the single shot guns in this are miles better then their full auto counterparts. It's all very well having a massive ammo clip but when it takes half a clip to drop anyone (even with the good ammo) it rather defeats the point, especially when the basic pistol with the improved ammo can 2 shot most of the enemies and can have a scope as well. I ended up regretting even bothering with the rifles and wondering why I didn't just buy tons of ammo for the pistol and the shotgun (and maybe the sniper rifle for extreme range).

You can play twice through, the first time that you visit. You will then need to wait a little while before visiting again, but once the "new season" is available, you can replay as often as you like. I went back again after I had cleaned out the shrouded bunker, and the episode was available. Great way to make money.

BTW, on round 4 of mutant bash TV you can get an extra $600 by activating and shooting the dopefish :D

On a different note: Sentry bots are just incredibly powerful! Sentry turrets don't seem to last very long unless they're positioned so the enemies can't reach them, but sentry bots are insane; they even do very good melee damage.

Sniper Rifle is a weapon you use for the sake of it to conserve Fat Boy ammo. There really isn't much call for the second level of zoom outside of the job board missions designed for it and since the pistol functions quite well unscoped you don't have to swap weapon if something gets too close or you need to stay mobile. Its all about the Crossbow tbh, a single Dynamite Bolt sorts out any sniper regardless of where you hit it.

The what on round 4? I'll have to keep an eye for it... Just did my second run through anyway so I'll have to wait a bit to go back. Buckshot and Wingsticks with 4 Pop Rockets to quickly kill the 4 fire-throwers = massive profit. Got around $760 for the first 4 rounds on both runs.

Sentry Bots are so much better than Turrets. Turrets run out of ammo too fast and once they get knocked over they become useless. Advanced versions the Turret can at least hold its own against Mutants but is just as useless against the standard armoured bandits/authority soldiers. The Advanced Bot isn't much better against those either though to be fair.

RC Cars are useless. They get destroyed far too easily. Still need to do the 'kill 3 enemies' achievement because I just never get the opportunity.

So the big bad guys with heavy metal helmets don't die until you blow their helmets off with the first shot. I'm not sure I see the issue..

Getting head shots is easy enough in rage, I don't want it even easier to kill things. And tbh, I'm not really looking for a realism shooter with rage. :p

I can scope my pistol and 1 hit them in the head.

Can you see it now?

What difficulty are you on? Because I don't remember 1 shotting enemies with the Pistol but not the Sniper Rifle on Hard. Hell on Nightmare it took 2 regular pistol headshots to kill the bandits on the first mission.

There's the ammunition cost to consider...

5 sniper rounds will set you back $11 ($2.20 per round)

9 Fat-mammas will set you back $45 ($5 per round).

Also, the fat mammas require you to purchase a schematic, whereas the sniper-rifle is just given to you.

Sniper rifle is a tool for truly long-range kills. The pistol doesn't have the accuracy for true long-range headshots, but for mid-long range killing it's generally a better option, IF you use the most advanced (and very expensive) ammo.

I don't see a problem. The sniper rifle feels well balanced with the other weapons - it should always be a specialist distance weapon rather than a general purpose tool. The fat mamma rounds do make the pistol a little overpowered though, IMO. Assuming you can afford the ammo.

With costly speciality ammunition as said.

I wouldn't expect a .45 magnum to make any less of a mess to somebody's head than some rifles just because it's a handgun. I still don't see your point.

also, fat boys aren't a 1 hit kill against armoured foes for me. What setting are you playing on? Easy?

Advanced sentry turrets are awesome - lay down 2 with overlapping fields of fire and most enemy except the "heavies" will be supressed and never get near them. I've had way too much fun setting them up semi-strategically against the places where you get waves of enemy.

The sentry bot is pretty cool too especially love it when an enemy tries to melee it and the bot melees it first :D

Not fatboys - fat mammas. They do twice the damage of fatboys, making them more powerful than the sniper rifle (sniper does ~%50 more damage than fatboys, but less damage than a fat mamma.)

IIRC you construct 9 fat mammas from 12 fatboys and an explosive charge.

*kind of spoilers... *

On the fourth round of mutant bash, look to the ship at the front of the arena. It's surrounded by some sort of cardboard octopus with three small white lights at the end of its tentacles. Shoot each of those three lights in turn, from right to left, and a cardboard dopefish (...from early id game Commander Keen) will jump out three times. Each time you have a chance to shoot it for $200.

You can easily get over $1200 from a round of mutant bash fairly easily doing this - over $1300 if you do it the first time you visit (where you get an extra round - the kracken).

Regarding RC cars - you need to use the boost if you want to avoid them being blown to smithereens early on! Alternatively I suppose you could attack a bunch of mutants; should be fairly easy.

Nice thing about fat mammas to - if the enemy line up its like a railgun slug keeps going til it hits a wall.

Tbh I thought that was all they did. I just assumed they were identical to Fat Boys but penetrated infinite enemies and considering enemies rarely if ever line up I found that completely useless. Think I only ever used them once... Anyone bothered with the Killbursts? Really don't see the point in them. Fat Boy will dish out more damage for (I think) less cost and they just don't have the armour penetration to be any use later on.

Sniper Rifle needs another ammo type really to pack more punch against armoured enemies.

Never noticed that, guess I was too busy shooting mutants :p Last run I got $760 so could've bumped that to maybe $1300. First trip though with the extra wave I got $930ish so could've made $1500.
Considering you pick up 16 Pop Rockets, some Feltrite AR ammo, Pistol rounds and plenty of Buckshot you probably come out the other side with more ammo than you went in with. Only real expense is Wingsticks and it doesn't cost much to craft 15.

When it said you fire every bullet at once I was expecting some sort of shotgun blast with a more concentrated spread for longer range. Similar to how the Shotgun Revolvers worked in Borderlands.
The rapid fire pistol shots are pathetic.

Mmm, I was expecting some kind of fletchette shell to be fired but that crap is just burst fire with 6 bullets.

Not too keen about the speed pulse rounds from the shotgun fly at either. If you fire at someone who's moving the projectile moves slowly enough to be dodged...
