!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

****ing dagger game. I can olny do 4/5 about half the time, haven't done the final round yet. It's too difficult being random :(

It takes some practice, but it's not so bad. The first four rounds it's easy to learn the pattern, but for the last round you need to go on reactions. Always have your eye on the "next" segment (remembering that the knife reverses direction with each stab), and if it lights up be ready to tap straight away. I can do the thing first time about as often as not now.

Also, remember that because the last round is random, sometimes it will be really hard (a lot of stabs right next to each other), and others it will be much easier. Keep going until you get one you can manage!

I do like the minigames and the races in Rage... Particularly this one and the card collectables game.

I gave up on the 5 finger knife game last round, stresses me out to much. I just got to Subway City and found another mini game called strum, i finished it but only with using my pen and paper secret tactics :o:p

I'm wondering though, now i am in Subway City does that mean i cant go back to Wellspring? There was a bloke down the road from that place called crazy Joe, i didn't bother adventuring into that swamp place round the back of he's hut as i thought i might grab a mission for it from Wellspring but couldn't find anything, i hope i can go back there...

Yeah, after 5 or 6 attempts and getting nowhere I had to resort to the old pen-and-paper tactic for Strum. I thought that after I got a feel for the different notes I might be able to replicate it, but I just don't have the skill :p Games requiring swift reaction times (like five finger fillet) are no problem for me, but a game requiring musical talent? Forget it!

...and yes, you can go back to Wellspring. There's an exit down in the resistance base (talk to the guy who brought you in).

Well with the most recent release of ATI drivers I can actually play this game. It's, what, only two weeks after release?

Sadly the debacle of the PC release may well come at a high cost with the recent rumours of ID being taken off work for Doom 4 :(

What drivers are you using?

I'm trying to help a friend (who's using a 4870x2) to get the game working properly: He's getting massive texture popping, a lot of flashing / missing textures, and he has to disable the catalyst AI (forcing single-GPU use) otherwise the game pauses every few seconds.

The drivers I've got him using are these ones from Oct 7th. I haven't found any more recent ones on the AMD site yet - their direct download sends you to a set from Sept 28th.

It would be nice to be able to use crossfire and/or reduce texture popping, but if he can actually play the game without flashing / invisible textures that would be a start. As it is the driving sections are pretty much impossible, because so many of the textures are missing / corrupted that it's hard to see where the track goes.

I'm about 6 hours in and feels like I've only started. Really hope I'm not near the end :/

I've been doing races and side quests too though, so hopefully got a while to play yet.

I do like the cross bow. Love shooting bandits from about 150yards away, thinking I've missed until I see him go down - I forget how slow the darts fly :D

Those drivers finally made the game playable for me. With those drivers it's pretty stable and a bit like a normal game. Still would say I find the game has a few issues but nothing so obviously as before. With these drivers it's properly playable now and any improvements will likely have to come from id rather than driver manufacturers.

Those Preview 3 Drivers are the first that have worked for me although I can't get past the end of the 1st bandit quest as it crashes as I exit the building.

With these types of games, I never really bother the ending (though I good ending is always welcomed). Stalker Clear Sky had a rediculously bad ending, but the rest of the game was awesome for me and that's what counts really.

I haven't played the game yet but is the ending really that bad? Most people seem to indicate that it falls woefully short... :(

It's just... abrupt.

The final level is actually pretty cool, but just as you're getting into the swing of things... it ends. I was just starting to enjoy the level - I was glad that they were finally ramping up the difficulty a bit. It starts to feel like it's building towards a climactic finish, and then - boom. Credits. And no big finish.

The whole thing feels like this was supposed to be "end of act 2", with the final third of the game still to come. I can only hope the final portion of the game was cut due to time constraints, and will appear soon as DLC.

As Duff-Man said, its not that bad, just as you get into the swing of the final mission it just suddenly stops out of nowhere, you press a button really short cutscene/credits pop up - ending cutscene has no real purpose either, explains nothing, just a quick pan over the wasteland then credits roll.

Personally I had a lot of fun playing around with the mutants and using different stuff to kill them like dynamite bolts, etc. so doesn't bother me but I can see why people who rushed through the main story arc would be miffed.

Took them long enough to make it, you'd think it would at least ship as intended. Near 7 years.

Just coz I'm bored, and sick of doing it over and over I'm creating macros on my G15 for the hand knife game. I've mastered the 4 rounds now so I don't consider it cheating, especially as round 5 is random :D
