!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

baiting? somdeone was making out the game was going to use loads of texture ram because they dont understand how mega texture works.

then they are telling people they will needs to turn down settings when the games recommended specs are really low for a pc game.

its likely to be one of the best optimised console ports you will ever see.

Clearly you're the one that is failing to understand how things work...and also failing to understand that when you personally mentioned something using 600MB-800MB of VRAM then you're implicitly also saying that 512MB of VRAM may not be sufficient for highest settings. So, despite all this you're coming out with, your very first post on the subject agreed with LeJosh. Go team logic!

:) It's all cool.

Either way, even as a PC gamer I was very excited by what I got to play on the 360. There are some nice subtle nods to their earlier IP's... wait until you see the Wolfenstein room...

Well any way, moving on.

I just got news that I'll be able to help my mum's boyfriend with a contract so I'll have spare cash to get this on release! \o/

Hopefully he'll want me.

And thank you FrenchTart and orderoftheflame, glad you guys understood what I meant.

Reading that eurogamer article, the part on mega-textures, what is the difference between RAGE's virtualised world in comparison to other games virtualised worlds?. I just can't quite grasp what id tech 5's mega texture or virtual world actualy is?, and to uniquely paint all the environments differently in RAGE but haven't other games already done this?. Maybe it is something i will have to actually see to appreciate or understand?.

as far as i understand mega texture is made by hand with most of the textures created by a person,

where as games like erm "fuel" use algorithms to build the world on the fly but as a result everything seems very similar

I'd take a look at the ~10 minute engine demo with Carmack in the OP. It explained it pretty well I think. :)

Which games do you think have everything uniquely painted?
