!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

This is why the pc version has been massively downgraded to what it should've been.
The pc version is a tad wacko at present, there are rumours that the pc x64 .exe? for the editor is only available later down the line along with the apparent high res texture pack?.

TURN YOUR MOUSE SENSTIVITY RIGHT DOWN OR THIS HAPPENS

I get motion sickness/headaches when playing some FPS games
ive never had this but after 15minutes of rage my head starts aching , my eyes feel tired and if i dont stop i start to feel like im going to be sick.

i think its all the texture popping and how the camera moves around it doesnt feel right, its wierd because dead island was fine , all the quake games etc were fine for me to

I had this issue. The cache directory fix reduced it massively.

So another borderlands/Dead Island induced game :p

Thing is FrenchTart I saw the trailers to this game and gameplay trailers there looks to be some sort of swaying or motion to your walking and instantly I thought that's going to make me ill. Hence why I haven't purchased it

In most games you can fix the issues with a bit of tweaking. It's very rarely that it factors into my games purchasing unless blurring the screen is some major aspect of the gameplay or the devs have some kind of crazy love of blur effects (e.g Pariah).

I told people ages ago :( again people ignoring me :p

This is why the pc version has been massively downgraded to what it should've been, thanks to consoles

This "waa waa nobody is paying attention to me" thing isn't really becoming of you, Neil.

I'm going to try out windowed mode later. I tend to use that as a last-ditch attempt to sort out issues like this as there's something about running it in a window that seems to help reduce the eyestrain/brain fudging.

The animations do look really good so far in the vids ive watched, enemies actually reacting to shots instead of being sponges untill they hit the death trigger to start a canned death animation.

Yeah, that's what appealed to me and was the reason that encouraged me to post the link in my previous post. The combat looks like great, great fun. :)

Not sure if it has been posted on here but taken off another forum.

Where is this directory, it doesn't exist on XP?

That was known long before it launched, Carmack himself addressed it. Its more than likely a limitation of megatextures streaming, if you're not looking a certain way then those textures get downgraded for performance. Makes sense, if it was a little quicker in updating it would be unnoticable.

There's no excuse for that on the PC.

Well, we're not developers so we're not really qualified to say if its something that can be fixed easily. I don't recall quake wars doing it but those maps were pretty small compared to what rage is offering.

I was for many years. There is no excuse for shipping it in that state unless it's a bug.

If it is indeed 'a bug' then the producer needs a kick in the balls.

I've still kept my pre order for a retail copy and I expect the texture problems to be sorted out.

What I find quite amazing and disconcerting is the game and engine have been in developement for a very long time so these sort of issues should not be occuring. ID have had a long time to polish Rage and it should have been launched with almost zero problems.

I do find the console port comments a little annoying though. Rage hasn't been ported from any one platform to another. The engine has been designed to dynamically adapt to whatever hardware it's being run on.

I just hope it's all sorted out for Friday when I get my copy of the game.

Another game that needs some work on pc to get it running right.
But they know the pc gamer will happily wait for a patch to come out within a month to sort out whatever issues pc gamers might find.

Those comparison shots, my god, do the console versions really run at that low rez?
Game might be great to play but when it looks like that?
