!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

I agree. Why would any company in any industry "stick to their roots" in an industry that's completely changed since it was founded, just to appease a few hardcore fans? It's a recipe for going under.

Well it's more the fact they clearly haven't tested the PC version properly and it is possible to successfully make a game on PC as lead platform (bf3).

Aye it is...ive made a thread on Bethesda forum about, and there is a pattern, anyone with a E series is getting the exact problem - The issue is, well there is no other issues with any other latest release from anyone lol just Rage.

Anyway i got it working, in window mode, but still the freezing is there, just runs longer before it freezes, and always says Program not responding in the top left corner of the window and in task manager when it happens - So probably a piece of code in the engine somewhere? not sure, but whatever it is, its a major headache right now.

It doesn't need to be an exclusive, it needs pc to be a lead platform so we can get the most out of the game, or at least considerably more, also their lack of testing shows they don't really give a **** and leaving it for ati and nvidia to sort out, also Bethesda made a statement about fixing something rather than id

Tried using the 11.6 drivers at all?

A lot of BS in that article, perhaps they should specify exactly what the in-house systems were in terms of specification and driver level?

I'd also like to know what magical driver, OS and Hardware combinations they were using... I would understand if the problems were isolated to a certain card series, OS and / or driver revision but there have been widespread problems of all kinds across the board, with some people here and there who have it working near perfectly.

Crazy.

Do people really believe that this is all down to the fact that they didn't test the PC version at all? You think that they just passed it off to the the disk pressers and simply not one person at Id noticed something as obvious as the pop in problems, or thought that nobody else would?

It's just a **** up with the development drivers provided to Id not giving the same performance as the consumer ones that have been released to the public. As has been admitted by all the major players. There's some other issues that slipped through, but 90%+ of the problems that people are having seem to be driver related.

Loving all the armchair expert game developers ITT. :p

God I've been spoiled with witcher 2, the graphics on Rage are good from a distance but very poor close up and inside buildings.... also getting a lot of tearing and annoying the SLI is broke. I'll wait for drivers/patches before playing it.

I have been (was) a project manager in the 'IT' industry for many many years and I would have been sacked for such a mess.

As you keep saying... You may well have been fired if the blame was entirely attributable to you rather than a problem with a third party vendor at your company.

At my company we'd rather see prompt fixes and lessons learned than heads rolling.

Whack v-sync on in the control panel to combat the tearing. Been speaking (complaining :p) to a mate at Nvidia about the lack of SLI. New driver soon he says, but the GPU Transcoding (CUDA) isn't playing friendly with running in SLI from what he says.

Yes because blaming a third party is the easy way out, it's rife in the industry, it's one of the main reasons I left the field!

Why didn't they test with the current drivers that everyone else is using, you know, just to be sure - because working on assumptions is more credible, clearly.

Except Ati and Nvidia are both admitting to driver problems, and working to release new ones? Sure the games not perfect, but making heads roll over what's mostly a driver issue is stupid. What are they going to do fire the whole company for not having foresight?

Rage went gold in September, the current drivers that Ati and Nvidia recommended were released after that (which should have matched the ones that Id would have been given for development). If the Id flux capacitor had been working, I'm sure they would have used them.

No I haven't, I would lose performance in other games if I did, just something I'm not going to do for 1 game :(

Some people say you can take the ogl .dll file from the 11.6 files and place it directly in the rage folder to make it use the ogl from that driver install, whilst keeping the rest of the system at whatever you were using. Not sure if it works though.

Played for over an hour now and despite the minor pop in I'm really enjoying it.

Only things I'm not quite sure on are health and weapon damage.
I have some bandages but I can never use them despite having taken damage. Is it really as easy as duck for 5 seconds and regen full health after the screen stops shaking red?

Also not sure on weapon damage and which shotguns etc. to use. I guess I'll just try them out and see which feels best / kills quicker.

Played for 2 hours last night no problems 1x 470 rendering only and the other dedicated to CUDA transcode, ran smooth w/ 60fps solid and minimal texture popin.

Decided to give this a shot after cancling my pre-order, added the tweaks listed hear but cant for the life of me get v-sync to work fullscreen.

The game runs beautifully in windowed mode, but i get bars of blured image moving up and down my screen when turning around ingame with fullscreen mode.

Ill give that a shot actually, probably the only thing i havent tried so far, ill let you know if it works.

On a side note, where in the files is it lol
