!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

If you find it cheaper then what they sell it for, then drop me a line. :D

Will do!

Edit: Rage Anarchy Edition, £22.91 @ Amazon.

Edit2: Actually, it looks like £22.91 is the regular edition, Anarchy edition is nearer £30. Still a decent price though.

Thanks. :)

I saw it on Amazon for £30, but obviously I wasn't looking carefully enough.

I think the price must've dropped recently. I notice somebody had already posted it on the daily deals thread.

It looks like it's worth a try at that price. Can I ask people who are already playing this - assuming the bugs get ironed out over the next week or two, would you recommend the game?

True enough that SLI isn't supported yet, I'll admit I was slightly disappointed at not being able to use both my cards.

One card eats it for breakfast and plays flawlessly anyway. So I got over it pretty quickly…

A friend of mine that works for Nvidia says that a driver with Sli support is in the works and should be out soon.

I dedicated my 2nd GPU to CUDA transcode and primary to rendering, seems to almost eliminate the texture popin, I'm barely using 30% of my primary GPU tho to hold 60fps so its not that demanding GPU wise.

No 16k textures in the game as far as I know.

Theres only enough data in the supplied texture lump for the most part to fill out 8K pages, 16K might have some minor advantages on the odd area marked for high detail like areas with text but for the most part you will see no advantage over 8K unless they pushed out higher res assets.

These aren't 8K or 16K "textures" in the traditional sense btw, while the implementation in RAGE is more advanced these are the settings for the texture atlas(es) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texture_atlas

don't know what all the fuss is now about. Took a punt, shouldn't have done anyhow installed to my laptop with a 5650 1GB GPU, installed 11.10 CATS and installed update 1, game runs fantastic at 1600 x 900 2 x AA v sync on large texture cache... Haven't gone any other config or editing of config files, look ok to me.

Getting average above 30fps, for a laptop thats pretty good, looked amazing on my 42" plasma.. Good game if you ask me, interesting gameplay, love the weapons, interesting graphical look as well. quite easy though so one of the first fps I'd be able to even manage hard mode with lol...

Driving is fun, hmmm no I like it. ID are back, weclome - been a while..

I'm having to delete "FileCache000.bin" & "FileCacheHeader.bin" in 'C:\Users\....\AppData\Local\id software\rage' before each game to reduce stuttering.

Delete the id software folder in appdata\local and it won't be created again by the game - tho some people seem to have to make it manually to stop stuttering which is weird coz on the PC that folder isn't even actually used (even tho it creates teh cache files).

I created the 'id software/rage' folders as it did massively reduce the stuttering I was getting but for some reason it runs better if the game re-creates the cache files each new game?!

thread needs more carmack

Ahh ive just deleted the folders i created in appdata\local, and the game is soo much smoother now, its actually playable, apart from it making my eyes hurt for some reason.

I find the lighting in some areas makes my eyes hurt, theres some horrid drenched blue in parts of the dead city bit and in general the lighting in that area is a bit over the top.

I dont recall getting it on the default settings, but after increasing the field of view and other features the game must have less of a buffer and therefore the texture popping creeps in.
