***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

Really enjoying it now and learning to tank decently (i think), as I haven't tanked since my EQ 2 days.

One thing that puzzles me.

My server is down as 'High' population, yet the market is dead, not many items for sale considering the numbers on the server.

I'm selling a lot of low level armour, which is keeping some extra money flowing in.

Must admit, there are some diamond geezers in the guild I'm in who have been extremely helpful, and that's adding to the experience ten fold.

It will take a while for the economy to get going, prices at the moment are still all over the place as people arent sure yet whats worth what. Think back to the first days of WoW (not making a direct comparison as such, just picked that MMO as its the best chance of being a former player) and the AH was quiet then too.

Once people have some idea of what stuff is worth, what sells well and whats needed (particularly as more alts are made and people fund the alts with their cash on their mains) the AH will pick up.

Top o' the world Ma ! Top o' the world !

Just installing and about to give this a go. Any hints or tips?

Major Rifts with a group give great XP. Dungeons give even more.

Been playing my healer today in warfronts and it's been brilliant :) really enjoying staying back and keeping the rogues/warriors alive. Never thought I would enjoy it but it's such a refreshing difference. Plus we won several times thanks to 3 of us healing the fang holder for what seemed like ages.

Yes, it will pickup for sure.

I was talking to a couple of people the other day, not specifically about this issue, but one of them mentioned that they don't use the AH because they'd rather have much more fun doing other things in the game, so they just sold them to the vendor.

The other person and me couldn't believe, because we're both craftsman, and I suppose always looking to make a quick buck ;)

I also seem to remember that a point was made regarding "no idea they were worth that much, I just sold them to the vendor" when I mentioned that I had sold some copper helmets.

So I guess it's a combination of not knowing the value of items yet and players just want to play and have fun in other areas of the game before the gold rush starts.

Can no one offer me advice on his this would run on my PC?

Amd Phenom II X4 3.2Ghz

Res of 1920X1080

Could I get high settings with shadows off 8X AF and 2X AA?

It will 100% certainly run on your PC because its highly scalable, you can whack everything right down and max it look like something from 2004 and you can slide various bars up from there for different things to make it look like something new, so your machine will certainly be able to run it in some combination of sliders.

This video shows the range of graphics available (though it is from beta) so I am 100% positive that your system can run it somewhere in this scope :)

Probably have to mess about with AF & AA to be honest.

This game runs a bit, and looks a bit like WoW, so it's more of a arty game imo. With that spec, the game will look good.

Someone mentioned in this thread to change a number in the rift config file from 3 to 0, and this actually helps.

If you get the game, try this tip out too.

I think I might get it, I haven't played WoW or any other MMO for ages.

I don't like the idea of having to sit infront of the PC for hours at a time raiding though, is there a drop in drop out system in this game? I think I can remember reading something about it

Cheers

How's this game compared to say LOTRO?

Hmm, not sure where to begin with a comparison against lotro. Rift is a bit easier to get into than lotro, bigger options for pvp than lotro. Pve questing is much the same fare. Classes in rift feel more customizable spec-wise than lotro. Graphics imo are comparable to lotro, though different styles. Community in lotro is better , but then its tough to beat the lotro community currently imo. UI is the standard mmo fare, quite customizable out of the box. I haven't done any dungeons or raids yet, so I cant compare that side of things.

I am finding rift to be a very nice companion to my lotro account. The two combined are currently covering my mmo needs in terms of pve, pvp and Rp nicely.

Well, just turned level 15 been playing casually for a couple of days now. Enjoying it a lot.

I still play WoW, but given time I could move over to this full time if first impressions are anything to go by. Clearly I didn't give it enough time in Beta...

New gfx card on the way and a touch of OC on the old processor should hopefully bump up my frames a bit :)

Edit - 1000th post yeaaaaahahhaahahah!
