Ba-da-boom!

Well I don't hate you.... But I may be disliking you intensely right now :)

Got home about an hour ago to find that my motherboard has finally been delivered :D

CPU in, ram in, graphics card in and go to connect the monitor.... WTF cable does not fit... DVI-I cable, DVI-D connect on new graphics card

Did not expect that one. Now in the front room with hdmi cable to the TV until the wife wants to watch the rugby.

i have heard the nb speed =1/2 the memory speed so the faster your ram is the faster the system is.
faster you run the ram the faster your system goes is a general rule anyway. But yes NB freq is 1:1 with RAM speed.

Gaze upon the cpu-z page and weep.

Soo im definitely buying a Ryzen chip, but the question is which do i buy, i mainly game, im not a huge overclocker, but i want something thats not going to go north of 65c when gaming, I will be using a 240mm AIO for cooling in my Phanteks Enthoo Primo case, do i go for the 1700 and be happy with 3.9 as thats what most chips are able to hit? or should i go for the 1700X? but if im going for the 1700X might i just as well get the 1800X? lol

Basically i want a minimum of 4GHZ on all cores 24/7 gaming at around 65c tops when gaming, is this even possible on Ryzen chips with an AIO? is this only possible under a proper water loop?

Those who have read about the Asus Crosshair VI Hero having bricking issues, a bios fix has been released, link.

Damn, if that had been posted this morning I may have bought a crosshair in the very brief period one was available.

I was just worried was hardware issue.

Still curious if the x370 pro will be more stable than prime plus. Was going to try disabling smt..... But there is no option for it (confirmed by others on another forum, so not just me being blind)

I think your best bet is the 1700 as it runs cooler than the 1700x, why I don't really know

The last MSI (1.14) BIOS update has fixed the memory issue so I can now run 4*8GB, it runs @ 1866 (RAM is 2133) but hopefully it will get better after a few more updates.

Also had this with the 1.14 bios, if you run just 2 sticks it will run @ 2133. I am running 2 @ 2400, if l fit all 4, it runs @ 1866.
When I first tried 4*8GB on BIOS 1.0 it would not POST, I had to run 2*8GB @2133. 1.14 is a big improvement, I would rather have 32GB @1866 than 16GB @2133. Also, the timings are much better. Hopefully the next update will increase frequency.

I'm trying to work out how I can have some fun with my 1700, maybe I'll get it out and do some acupuncture on my balls. Not a lot else to do with it. :(
