** Official ** Season 2010/2011 Pre-Season thread

No but if your team has just had an absolutely terrible season then why would you point out another teams shortcomings? That would be like Sam Allardyce complaining about one of his players getting kicked off the park... Oh wait.

Because people in this forum don't just talk about the team they support? People can point out anything, the highs as well as the lows. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever.

not like an Arsenal fan to bite like that ;) I'll just wait until he actually does something before hailing him as the next messiah.

No, I agree.

I don't think he's something that he's not, he's simply a promising young English player, it was a good effort though but then you don't get **** all for hitting the post.

Just another example of his great technique and confidence for such a young player, he's no messiah yet, but it's not wrong to be excited about outstanding prospects, especially when they play for your club!

Wilshires shot was nothing in itself to get excited about, neither is his hunger and willingness to win the ball back(and do if often and often come out of a tackle with a ball), but his vision, passing ability, threading throughballs, and most of all his old Arsenal style pass and moving play. THe quick passing, one/two's, his ability to link up with the entire midfield and attack(obviously excluding Theo, who couldn't return a pass if his life depended on it) are things to get excited about. Lets not forget he played a decent number of games for Bolton, and looked one of their better players, he was consistantly between good and very decent in basically all his games, and looked good against good sides aswell.

I should say, I'm not excited, he's a very decent player now, he's not setting the world alight, but he hasn't been given the chance yet either, he's probably our most capable player out on the wing right now, though he certainly seems to be best running around more centrally, he's certainly got the link up play and determination to get past people on the wing, and primarily played on the wing for Bolton.

He's more than capable of playing first team games for us this year. I only worry that he got so much preseason time with games on TV that he was being pimped out for loan, rather than worrying about tiring him out as he basically played most of both games while no one else came close to that amount of minutes on the pitch.

He's more than good enough now, he's leagues ahead of THeo Walcott in every single aspect of the game, he's stronger, he's not faster but he's more effective with the ball. Will be such an utter waste to send him out on loan.

If arsenal had one or two really top class forwards they would be unbelievable.

I watched the second half of the celtic game and the move the ball very well very quick but lack abit upfront imo.

Altho chamakh (SP?) looks lively

yeah I think that's a good shout about sending Walcott out on loan and keeping Wilshere. Would love to see him get some Premiership games under his belt for us. There's been so much hyperbole/fuss surrounding Wilshere for a couple of years now, and Rooney was making a name for himself on the pitch when he was the same age, so I think it's time to start justifying the hype. If it were not for his diminuitive frame I think he would have enjoyed the same rapid rise as Rooney, because he has all the talent. Wilshere's a much more intelligent player than Theo too, and as much as I think that it's still too early to write Walcott off, a season learning how to properly ply his trade might be good for him.

The thing is, you just don't send players on £60k a week out on loan... No lower league/bottom half of the premiership side is going to be able to afford that kind of wage, which means if he did go out on loan, we'd still be paying him the vast majority of his wages to not play for us. That's just bad business and no board would sanction that, so I don't think Walcott will be going anywhere :\

edit: I say no board, what I really mean is any board not comprised of obscenely-rich-oligarch-emiratis ;)

The real question, and I think drunkenmaster already said it, is why the hell is he on 60k to begin with, his agent must be a ******* magician
