*** Official SONOS Thread ***

Will wait for reviews, no way I’m dropping 1k on the ultra yet, want to get an idea on the differences between the arc and arc ultra from some trusted sources like Peter Pee on YT.

Haha. Adding one into the snug.

Upgrade programme?

I have a Sonos arc, never applied for any upgrade in the past, is it a simple case of just activating the upgrade on website and applying discount, I take it I don’t need to send them my Sonos arc, lol, as it’s worth more than £149!.

Gonna hold out and wait to see if there are any decent Black Friday deals for the 1st Gen Arc but if not then Ultra it is.

The Beam (Gen 2) has been great but it is time to get the big boy.

Just watching top gun maverick - different TV and environment but it's certainly 10 clicks above the beam (although mine is a gen1 mostly used for paw patrol etc so not a totally fair comparison, lol).

I will maybe go for the ultra at a later date, but im not going to upgrade my gen 3 sub, see nothing in the gen 4 to warrant an upgrade. Same could be said for arc>ultra, but hopefully its enough of an improvement there, looking forward to some reviews/comparisions.

Sub 4 seems a cosmetic update as best I can tell. Be interesting to see the reviews.

As a dad to two myself, when Rubble is on the double? Reference material mate. ;)

Do they do remote bricking or something?

No, you still get to keep the device and can still use it. Just their way of trying to get you to spend money and upgrade to the latest and greatest.

People sell devices on eBay for like £50 which you can add to your account and get 30% off. Quite a big saving if you were say buying a bar, sub and rear speakers.

Shows you here which products are eligible and their %

Changes are:

The subwoofer benefits from increased processing power, more memory and new Wi-Fi radios for better connectivity and uses less power when in use and in standby mode. It's also 2kg lighter than the previous Gen3.
Thanks.

The Sub is basically unchanged since 2012 sonically. I'm suprised they didn't do a bigger overhaul. I wonder where all the weight was shaved off?

Arc ultra looks like a clear upgrade over the non ultra if you use as a stand alone. However it's not clear if there is any significant improvement when used in an existing surround setup. I probably won't upgrade; I'll keep my gen2 sub as well - the only difference is the gen4 is lighter and uses 50% less power

I think the fact that they'll keep selling the non ultra is telling; the ultra is not a clear replacement but a side product to better suit a scenario where you only use a soundbar without a sub and rear
