*** Official SONOS Thread ***

I think there are massive EU and/or worldwide shipping issues at the moment, due to Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Christmas, Christmas returns, Covid etc.
 
I got an advance RMA subwoofer direct from Sonos in Poland and took from ordering 15th December till 24th December to arrive. This as people have said is due to sales, Covid, etc.
 
No delay for me, Sub arrived a day early.

Didnt do my homework properly and the Gen 3 sub is S2 only. The reviews of the S2 app on the Playstore are terrible.

Anyone using S2?

If I upgrade I'll have to either split my network or sell my 2 Gen 1 Play:5s.

S2 app works fine, to be honest you hardly use the app anyway.

I take it you have utilised the Trade Up on your 2 Play 5's? Sell them now :)

Used one of the trade up discounts on the Sub, still have one left.

I got both my Beam and Gen 2 Play 5 as refurbs with Bluelight discount on top so it was even cheaper than using the trade up discount.
 
Anyone got any suggestions for this oddity?

I have a Beam in my bedroom, and use it for my morning alarm. It is set to play random liked songs from my Spotify.

Recently, it has started on some mornings to just play the alarm chime instead. I interpret this as it failing to connect to Spotify, and we were starting to have trouble with our previous (BT) router so I put it down to that. But late in December we swapped to Sky, and we have no signal issues any more. In fact the Beam is sitting right next to a Sky minibox which is supposed to act as a repeater. My phone gets full wifi strength in the same place, and we have never had any other dropouts of the Beam playing music - only this alarm issue. In fact, once the chime has started, I can cancel it and immediately, successfully, play Spotify music to the Beam.

Any thoughts on what is causing this? I am perplexed!

I've had similar issues on S1 with alarms. Most of the time it works, I usually have it set to a radio station, but get the odd chime.

a lot of the Sonos implementation feels a bit flakey with my setup, often refusing to play tracks, needing multiple attempts to play.
 
Looking online, there's a suggestion that the Sonos alarm is 'impatient'. If it isn't able to access the source you've pointed it at immediately, then it reverts to the chime straight away. So I wonder if it's possible that the issue is my router is going into some kind of sleep mode overnight, and isn't waking quickly enough for my Sonos liking?
 
Sonos kit needs a 2.4GHz wifi network and can often struggle with routers that broadcast a combined 2.4 & 5GHz SSID. See if the Sky router gives you the option to split the SSID's into 2.4 & 5GHz networks.

S2 is rubbish (but so was S1).
