and I read the playbar doesn't have many inputs..
My samsung KS8000 seems to have like a "hub" which all the HDMI etc go into.. I presume optical will go from that to the playbar?
Will this stop it from outputting 5.1 etc? or will it only play stereo?
KS8000 does not pass 5.1 via optical (nor do most Samsung sets, yet another reason to avoid the brand). The TV would pass 2.0 would then be mixed to virtual 5.1 by Sonos - which will be pony. A way around it would be to buy a HDMI switch which will convert HDMI input to 5.1 optical output.
So I got a Play 1 for Christmas yesterday. What a bit of kit
Have thoroughly enjoyed using it, so much that I'm looking to buy another. I'm guessing that they won't be discounted anywhere in the Boxing Day sales though?

You're making your life, and that of your family and friends life harder for ZERO benefit to convenience or security.
If anything you make yourself a target by being "the over paranoid one" that stands out.
I even did a wee google to see if there was any benefits that I didn't know about, literally every article lists why it's a bad idea... Stop doing it. Enjoy your Sonos. Never look back.
Or just have a guest wifi network? Agreed it's annoying when people can play with the playlists etc. One of the reasons I think I'll set up a guest network.
