******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

1. Wait until free fly so YOU can judge for yourself.
2. Buy the minimum package available at the time.
3. Do not put any more money in until it's released.

Bringing common sense to the internet, why start now?

Its the perfect storm for drama farming, you have people with self control issues not willing to put in minimal effort to research the game, news outlets (and I use that term loosely) can attack the project for click's without fear of making any major publisher mad and the current state of the game.

It all adds up.

And the worse thing is CIG has yet to understand their involvement in it all and makes changes to better place themselves for when bad news comes a knocking.

Woke games do fail, as they should.

Star Citizen has enough issues without bringing politics up, not really the place.

I bought this (well, pledged!) last night. Downloaded it last night hoping to play this morning, but it's just started downloading the 39-40gb file again. Not sure what happened there.

Anyway, looking forward to jumping into it. I see that there are Organisations in the game. Is there an OcUK one?

Also, where should I start? New Babbage seems to be the most suggested city.

Personally I like Area 18 (Arc Corp) for new starts, it's a little less confusing and the shops you need are nearer your starting location.

When I play I tend to pick Orison purely as I like to base myself in Seraphim station which orbits the planet, it's pure laziness tbh :D

Someone did a vid that may help:

Thanks I'll check that video out.

I've played for a few hours this morning and started in New Babbage in the end. First things first, the inventory system is quite possibly the worst I have ever used. It's so bad that I've somehow ended up losing various items, and I am now stuck in a situation where I can't equip anything other than the hospital gown.

I did have some good moments though. It took ages and me Googling about thirty different things, but I eventually got into space and flew to a nearby space station. I didn't spend long on there, then I left and as I was flying away I realised that my ship's hatch was still open. I got out of the pilot seat and went to inspect. After a quick Google to confirm that you can indeed space walk. I decided to get out. My ship instantly disappeared. I assumed it was a bug, but then realised that it was still moving and was now 3km away. Oops.

I then wasted a load of money on a quantum drive for my ship because I thought it didn't come with one. Turns out it did, and I just don't know how to power it up yet.

I've spent the last hour trying to equip my armour again, but in the process have lost it all and I also now have no weapon as that disappeared as well.

The game is beautiful at times. Genuinely impressive visuals when you're in space. I hope I can fix the inventory issues and actually explore a bit more.

Oh, also I was only getting about 30-60fps. I turned off V-Sync and suddenly it shot up to 80-150fps. Still getting drops so might need to do more tweaking though.

Here's some pictures of me before I had to kill myself in space!

The game is almost completely broken at the moment, Live is unplayable, i tried yesterday as i wanted to do some salvaging and couldn't even spawn my ship.... so i gave up.

Too much going on right now they are trying to knock out multiple new tech builds at the same time, they are working very hard, they pushed out another 4.0 EFT build yesterday, a Sunday, but they are neglecting the Live build, servers are getting deadlocked and they aren't reconstituting them, the live build is getting updated soon, hopefully once they have that build ready they will pay more attention to the live servers.

Oh ok, sounds like I've started at a pretty bad time then. Is this likely the reason I can't equip anything?

Yes, everything you do needs to be registered by the backend, the servers, and that's very ropey, as @Uncle Petey said, so because the backend isn't responding when you try to equip something the back end isn't confirming that, its also why your ship disappeared, from your perspective you had a ship, not from the back ends perspective so as soon as you left that ship the back end is like "i don't remember this being here, *yoink* "

Its not normally this bad, the previous patches ran pretty well, right now they are all concentrating on getting some very big tech upgrades in before the end of this year and with that it seem's they aren't even looking at anything else.

Given how fundamentally broken the live environment is right now, the never ending "2 more years" to release the of SQ42 and the other never ending wait for 4.0, there will be more than one person suffering from backing regret right now.

I could play 3.18, this live environment is something entirely different.

Its going to be a rough couple of months.
I couldn't even log in during 3.18. This is still better than that for me tbh. That the thing, it varies so much. This is pretty poor right now. 3.18 was for myself the worst it has ever been and for absolutely months. Hopefully the 4.0 patch steps up a little tbh. It seems to actually still be more stable than live has been for last 10days.

You could play 3.18?

I personally couldn't and many others as well.

We couldn't even log into the game

The strange thing is I could log in to 3.18, spawn my ships and go places. The 2 ships I had in my account might have been the reason for that as the more ships you had the harder it seemed to be to log in.

Right now I cant leave the hanger, either the instance hanger wont connect to the outside (the doors open and its the steel of the space station) or when I do get it to work the ship is glued to the platform. Currently stuck there.

Have you tried joining a different region like us or Asia server?

Tried the EU and USA severs.

This is what happens, as soon as i spawn my ship, "Gateway Granted" appears without me asking, the hanger opens but doesn't connect to the space station. After getting in my ship, when i contact ATC nothing happens :(

I will just wait till the next patch resets everything to fix, had to do that with the last patch when the character reset stop working.

Which station are you in?

Have you tried hitching a ride from someone?
