******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

It was more to do with the staff not wanting to locate from Austin to Santa Monica to be fair, it was key staff rather than a lot - but they were still a small studio at the time so it would have had more of an impact. Eric Peterson was one of the key ones IMHO who left then.

That's not a rumour I believe tbh, I think it's more to do with SQ42 release coming closer and them wanting to get that out so they can start working on the various follow up episodes for it which will bring in more money and start the money printer back up.

Roberts has been dealing with investors etc for 30+ years, he knows how to manage them and how to lock them in.

Check the financial reports. They have to offer to refund the shareholder stock next year I believe. Up to 80 percent of it and then again the last 20 percent 2 years later.

That's facts. Basically if your a outside investor, you can take most of your money out next year if you wanted or wait a further two years and take it all out.

CIG needs to convince them to continue to keep there money in the project.

Yes those may be facts, but the "Chris is being pressured to get it out sooner" rumour isn't, fact is he's always been pressured by someone, it doesn't matter to him.

I'd say the vast majority of people who bad mouth the game, Come up with all sorts of insults towards the staff members etc... haven't actually tried it... and to echo something I said elsewhere earlier -

"I find it quite funny how all these gaming urinalist rags always bang on about Star Citizen being "controversial"... to who ? The people who don't play it ?"

Even if they try it, or don't it's a valid opinion to have. I think BF/COD etc are all trash but can see how people have fun in them especially playing with friends. I feel the same about SC, it's a junky mess most of the time, but outside of Valheim it's probably the game I've had the most fun with over the past 5 years. It can be an absolute joy to play.

SC has a learning curve that's very unforgiving at times which also puts people off who expect something more akin to No Man's Sky, where they can dive in and get playing, when SC is more like Elite Dangerous with a bit more "nonsense" on top and all hidden behind a fairly confusing UI and game menu system.

Let's face it we all play SC because it offers what no other game does at the moment, proper emergent space sim-style gameplay. I'm forever exploring or trying out new stuff, that's what I enjoy the most.

Space Tomato is a pretty solid youtuber on Star Citizen, consistently says - get the basic package, spend no more and even when on streams with whales (inforunners etc) consistently says he has a problem recommending anything at $100+ because it's just so much money. I think he's awesome tbh.

We need more doing this, the whales are insane, I use to think I was one but I'm a minnow by comparison lol

I agree with that TLDR. CIG don't need us defending their sometimes stupid decisions. If people think it's a scam, fine. I'm not really sure why I would be expected to care about random stranger on the internets opinion though.

I've said many times, I've got my moneys worth out of SC already and then some. I'm in the net-positive category and suspect many others are too when you look at cost/hour of actually having fun with friends. The only game I'd say comes close is Valheim which I have 572 hours in for something like £11 ! but I've spend thousands of hours in Star Citizen over the past 10 years.

We'd have constant stories from the devs if it was a toxic place to work.

Keep in mind they are a company that has global holidays for all staff at set times too, not something that's standard in the US.

That article has a single example of a now-ex employee out of thousands of staff. That person "quit" by the sounds of is before she was fired and is obviously not going to be impartial.

You can sort of see that already when they make changes such as master modes that don't give people exactly the game they want to have. I'm not a huge fan of master modes, I think it's overly complicated for what it's trying to achieve but I tend to play as crew so flying isn't something I do a huge amount of.

That's why I rarely post on the official forums, too many agendas and personalities involved pushing their own personal bias.

I'm here to play a game, nothing more.

Join up to that org mate, they don't have a hugely active spectrum but they do help each other. There's also a discord server :)

I know some use Kubuntu LTS https://kubuntu.org/getkubuntu/

Longest stretch I got was about 17 hours but part of that was me wiping out NPCs in the mine of Klescher for a laugh not realising how much time it'd add to my sentence (I wasn't below level 7..)

September 2012 was the noise about the project, October 2012 was the start of funding if I recall correctly.

My daughter was 2. She's now entering 3rd year at high school..
